I'm a former New York City voice teacher/coach, professional singer and an award winning composer who has relocated to Berlin. I've taught with the most reputable children's musical theatre organizations in NYC with students of all ages as well as private students and I've worked with Broadway stars such as Laura Osnes, Karen Mason and Ron Bohmer, who have also recorded my music, and I'm excited to bring my 20 yrs of teaching experience to Berlin! I teach songwriting as well, if that is something you're interested in. I'm a classically trained singer who performed with the San Francisco Opera and other companies both in opera and musical theatre for many years. Though I specialize now in musical theatre, I am happy and comfortable teaching you to sing in whatever style you prefer. The basics are the same! In our lessons, we will work on breath, correct vowel pronunciation, placement, diction, etc... as well as getting rid of the tension and habits that keep us from singing freely and beautifully. We will also work on the musical and dramatic aspects of the material we choose together, so that you will feel comfortable at an audition or a performance. And I keep lessons fun so that you can both learn and progress each week AND enjoy yourself! How to work the voice ? Practice ? Perform ? Compose ? Interpret a song ? I can guide your vocal training with technical and interpretative aspects of your favorite genre. The lessons are 45 minutes long. At the beginning we do some warm-up exercises and vocal techniques, then we will listen and learn from the repertoire we chose together to best improve your vocals. They must be songs that you like and that are challenging enough to excel your learning to the next level of difficulty. For children between 4 and 6 years old, the classes are 35 minutes long. Through games or small choreographies, I intend to reinforce their attention span while they develop their hearing, musical memory, intonation, and rhythm, working to make sure the classes are dynamic and fun.
