At its core, music theory is the study of how music works. It explores the structures and systems that composers and musicians use to create the sounds that we love. In this course, we will cover the basics of music notation, intervals, scales, chords, harmony, and form, among other topics. Throughout the course, we will examine musical examples from a variety of styles and genres, including classical, jazz, pop, and folk music. We will also explore the historical context of music theory and the ways in which different musical cultures and traditions have developed their own unique approaches to creating and understanding music. By the end of this course, you will have a deeper understanding of the building blocks of music and the ways in which they are combined to create different musical styles and genres. You will also be able to read and analyze musical notation, identify and describe different musical elements, and have the tools to begin composing your own music. Whether you are a musician looking to expand your knowledge of music theory, a music student seeking a solid foundation in the basics, or simply a music lover interested in learning more about the mechanics of music, this course is for you. So let's dive in and explore the fascinating world of music theory together!

The vallenato accordion can be learned through music theory or through intuitive techniques and patterns just like the juglares of the past such as Alenadro Duran, Luis Enrique Martinez or Emiliano Zuleta (who is the composer of the famous piece La Gota Fria). The student can choose to learn the preferred way, or both ways at the same time.

Sound is a word with a broad meaning. In these classes we will focus on listening sessions and sound composition/improvisation. At first, we will exercise the art of listening (natural and artificial/man made sounds). Later on we will try to make sound compositions and improvisations manually and on computer programs (optional). Listening is a powerful tool for daily awareness. Listening to your surrounding, means being aware of other things and entities that exist around you, which adds on to a deeper understanding of oneself and one’s environment. Through a selection of music, sounds and a series of exercises, I will guide you through a journey of listening to yourself and your surrounding.

The Afro-Cuban and modern percussion lessons are created with the aim of training the modern percussionist in the most varied musical situations that he/she must face daily on the stages. The study takes into consideration the technique of congas, bongos, timbales, cajon and much more. In addition to dealing with technique, we will analyze the study of the independence of the arts in order to be able to play more instruments together, facing the different needs of the "modern percussionist", such as the use of shakers, tambourines together with congas, bongos, cajon , or the use of hand / foot cowbells or drum cymbals. Hello everyone! My musical journey began when I was just four years old, starting with the piano. Later, at the age of seven, I eagerly embraced the violin, adding its enchanting melodies to my repertoire. I achieved a professional mid-grade in both piano and violin. Fueled by my love for music, I moved to Rotterdam, Netherlands, to pursue a Bachelor's degree at Codarts University of Arts. Under the guidance of teachers like Natasha Morozova and Hed Yaron Meyerson, I refined my skills and nurtured my artistic vision. After completing my Bachelor's studies, I continued my musical exploration in Codarts' Master's program. Alongside my classical training, I've always been intrigued by the therapeutic potential of music. In 2023, I earned certification in Music Therapy, expanding my horizons and deepening my connection to the healing power of music. In collaboration with my colleagues, I am member of the Olga Trio. Our mission is to highlight the works of women composers throughout history. Our debut performance at the IV Concurso Nacional de Interpretación de Obras de Mujeres Compositoras was a proud moment, affirming our commitment to amplifying diverse voices in music. Beyond classical music, I've always been drawn to exploring different genres and styles. As a member of the Jong Metropole Orchestra in 2023, I relished the opportunity to collaborate with musicians from diverse backgrounds, pushing the boundaries of traditional musical conventions. In every note I play and every project I undertake, my passion for music shines through. It's a journey of exploration, growth, and discovery, and I'm excited to continue sharing my love for music with the world. I've been teaching during the last 8 years. I am flexible with the students needs and I embrace fun and creativity in my lessons.

Hello! I'm Nina, a drummer from Amsterdam. I am currently studying Drums at the Amsterdam Conservatory (Pop Department). I play in multiple bands and various session projects, including 45ACIDBABIES and Anna Joan + more. I work a lot with Hybrid Drums (SPD and triggers) and also teach Ableton. I love many different music styles, so you've come to the right place for any genre! The studio is located in the Q-Factory in Amsterdam with two professional drum kits and sound system. If all this is too far or for some other reason not reachable, lessons at home and / or online are also possible! We can work on, among other things: - Hand technique (how do I hold my sticks? Or which stick technique do I use for different music styles?) - Creativity (how can I eventually make cool drum parts myself? Or parts other than the ones you would initially come up with?) - Improvisation (lots of playing and trying!) - Timing, playing along with songs (with click tracks), how can I become more playful with the click? - Relaxed posture - Drum notation (learning to read drum notes) - New fills, grooves and beats - Sound (how do I tune my drums? which drum sound do I want for different types of music?) - Hybrid drums (working with samples on the SPD and/or triggers) in combination with Ableton. And of course we will play along to your favorite songs a lot! I especially hope that I can create lessons together with you that match what you like and what you would like to learn. All levels and ages are welcome!
