De echte Portugese ervaring! Advantages of learning a new language: Learning a new language is fun. But what I’m (and you should be) after is not bilingualism but instead biculturalism. We think by aid of words. Therefore language shapes thought. In part this is because working in a second language slows down the thinking. No wonder people feel different when speaking a second language. And no wonder they feel looser, more spontaneous, perhaps more assertive or funnier or blunter. Studies show that being able to speak another language is generally linked to a more flexible brain, developing the brain’s ability to plan and prioritize. Also it betters our defenses against dementia in old age. Advantages of learning Portuguese: • 250 million native speakers worldwide • 5th most common language in the world • It has been an official language since 1297 • It’s usage is spread over 4 continents (Europe, South America, Africa, Asia) Now business, For the past 5 years I've had more than 50 students and based on experience I recommend the following lesson duration (minutes): Age gap 0-6 | 7-12 | 13-17 | 18-45 | 45-64 | 65+ Duration 30 | 30-45 | 45-60 | 60 | 60-45 | 45-30 Focus on diverse subjects is possible, for example, grammar, diction, reading comprehension, written production, conversational skills. Because the goal of most students is the ability to communicate, I’ve been developing my classes that way. I have acquired extra audio media specially for you :) to hear Portuguese being spoken at a different pace, accent and voice tone. My method is based on a book (that I myself bring to the class and the student doesn’t need to acquire) which I'm fairly familiar by now. But what I really like is to talk to the student. So the book will be used to present the gramatical structure of the language while also serving as an inspiration platform for conversation topics. Periodically we will evaluate how the classes are evolving so as to rapidly and effectively shift focus to where it is needed.

I am a native English and Italian speaker, and I have worked as a tutor and language teacher over the past ten years, while also studying History and Cultural Heritage. My experience includes teaching English language courses at different levels, preparing for language exams, conversation practice, as well as text translation and correction. My past customers range from teenage and adult students, to young and older professionals. As an instructor and teacher, I offer: • Lessons at all levels: Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced. • A multi-faceted approach, which covers: conversation practice, text comprehension, grammar, writing, academic and professional vocabulary. • Training in Professional/Business English. • Preparation for language tests: FCE and CAE Cambridge tests, IELTS, SATs. • Conversation practice (tailored to the needs of the student). • Text translation and proofreading. Approach - I always encourage the student to develop a personal connection to the language by exploring personal interests in English. In my lessons, I favour a practical approach (real-life situations) and use texts, videos and conversation to elicit grammar rules and vocabulary. When necessary, the lesson is focused on grammar rules and the correct use of language. This positive approach, along with regular practice, will definitely improve your English and keep it active in the long term.

Hello I'm a professional bass player living in Amsterdam. I have a passion for teaching and passing on some of the knowledge that I have acquired during my studies at several schools and heard from the musicians I look up to. I've done my bachelor degree at The Royal Academy of Music in Denmark, and I finished my Masters at Conservatorium van Amsterdam in 2024. I teach double bass, electric bass and composition. Musically I try to be as open as I can. For me it doesn't matter if it's free jazz, traditional jazz, pop or metal as long as it feels good. I'm a leader of my own group where we combine jazz and indie rock. we will release our debut album this fall. I'm also a sideman in several groups. As for composition I have experience with composing for regular jazz groups, big band, string quartet and irregular constellations such as my band with three guitars and three horns. Some thoughts about teaching: I believe that the most important thing when teaching is having a good relation to one another and generally just having a good time. If we don't enjoy the process we don't learn. You should feel comfortable saying how you feel and what you want to learn/don't want to learn. With that transparency I will be able to customize the teaching and balance the curriculum so that I meet your needs while pushing you into unknown territory. If you're reading this I'm happy that you took your time to read through it all, and hopefully we'll get to meet and talk about music!
