About Me

I've been tutoring for many years, exclusively one-on-one and in-person. I occasionally make exceptions for siblings and close friends, but I don't want to teach more than two students at a time.

The guiding principle of my teaching is absolute individuality, tailored to the student. Therefore, each student must receive their own explanations, exercises, and support.

Of course, some content is recurring, because certain difficulties arise in the same and similar way time and time again, and my experience influences them. Nevertheless, each example is unique and builds on the student's background and interests. History, football, the Titanic, or Winnetou: all of them can be used for grammar, spelling, and style exercises. Shakespeare, Peter Pan, song lyrics, or newspaper articles: the main thing is English. Classical Latin authors, custom practice texts focused on grammar topics, ecclesiastical Latin, inscriptions—even translations from German into Latin—it depends on what helps.

If necessary or requested, I also create notes and worksheets, whether for home practice or simply for review. This has proven to be a valuable tool because students, especially younger students, rarely (if ever) look at standard grammar books.

Learning a foreign language is not a linear process that consists of memorising a list of words, and speaking a foreign language is not an oral translation exercise.

There are two types of approaches to acquiring knowledge:
