Hello there! My name is Vasilis and I am a jazz/rock/eastern traditional and classical guitar player, singer and songwriter currently studying as a 3rd year student in the Jazz and Pop guitar department of HKU conservatory. I am coming from Greece where I graduated from my first bachelor on classical guitar and the last three years I live, study, work and play in Utrecht.

My teaching career started very early, 12 years ago when my classical guitar teacher let me teach my first student and since then I have worked in multiple music schools and in private lessons with students of every age. This year I also started giving my first band coaching group lessons.

In my lessons I try to create a learning path that is formed arround the interests and taste of each student. Since I am a singer and songwriter the lessons can also focus on the creating part of music if of course the student is interested in that. I work with empathy and sensitivity arround the needs of each student.

As for my playing career, I play with multiple bands on original songs of mine or covers in different venues and festivals in Europe. The genres differ between pop, jazz, rock, eastern traditional and blues so I can give a big variety of stylistic directions to each student.

Last but not least, I am also a singer and because of my good performance in school, I was awarded from the HKU Conservatory the oportunity to follow the vocal curriculum of the school as well. So I can help you with singing too!

About Me

Hello there!

Welcome! My name is Vasilis Papadopoulos, and I help aspiring musicians master the guitar and discover their true voice. Based in Utrecht for the past six years, I hold a Master’s degree in Jazz Guitar and Vocals from the HKU Jazz & Pop department. My advanced training under leading jazz musicians like Daan Kleijn (creative practice methods) and Tyn Wybenga (composition) and my years on the stage playing numerous genres of music with different bands and artists allow me to offer structured, highly effective, and personalized instruction. No matter your style or skill level, my goal is simple: to help you make music you love with confidence.

The Lessons:
Whether you're drawn to the raw sound or rock, the warm melodies of jazz, the sounscapes of pop or the rich modal traditions of Greek and Turkish music, I'd love to guide you on your musical journey. Together we'll explore the fascinating musical world which is full of expression and creativity.

My goal is to make music an element in your everyday life that creates an escape, to make you crave practising and playing, to explore and develop the process of creating your own material, and finally to connect you with the music scene in every way I can. I love taking my students to jams, helping them build bands and organise their own concerts, coaching them in songwriting and building their practising routine.

By using my knowledge of creative practising, I will also teach you how to be your own teacher and overcome the confusion caused by the scarcity of practice time that adults usually face.

Very soon you will be able to learn songs by yourself, create melodies and harmonies and perform.

Lessons Tailored to You :
We'll work with music you genuinely enjoy. Using your favourite songs and styles as a starting point, I'll create exercises that match your level and goals. Before long, you'll already be playing your first tunes. Practising becomes much more rewarding when you're making music you love.

Lessons for Children:
During my conservatory studies I specialised in music education for children, and I've been teaching young musicians for more than ten years. I currently direct a children's ensemble specialising in traditional Eastern Mediterranean music, where making music together goes hand in hand with fun, creativity and discovering a rich musical heritage.

I have also attended music theory classes for 6 years because it is very useful to have some knowledge of it when playing any instrument. The way I teach actually depends entirely on the student. The way I explain the concepts, plan and structure the lessons and approach each subject all depends on whether the student is a beginner, intermediate or advanced, and whether he or she has some experience on the subject.

Hi, I'm Heewon from South Korea. I'm a graduate of the HKU Conservatory's Jazz & Pop department, majoring in jazz piano, though alongside that, I've continued studying classical piano, as well as composition and arranging.

For over 6 years, I've taught students ranging from young children (6 to 7 years old) to adults in their 50s and beyond, covering genres from jazz and pop to classical and new age, along with music theory. I've also performed extensively in both South Korea and the Netherlands, at festivals, jazz bars, and government related events, playing not only jazz standards but my own arrangements and original compositions.
