Learn world history, international relations, and political science from a former U.S. diplomat with 16 years of professional experience in Asia, Africa, and Washington, D.C.

This class is designed for high school and university students, adult learners, and anyone interested in developing a deeper understanding of how international affairs, politics, economics, and diplomacy actually work. Lessons can be tailored to your interests, academic coursework, or professional goals.

Topics can include international relations and foreign policy; diplomacy and negotiation; the United Nations and other international organizations; U.S. government and foreign policy; international security; global economic and technology issues; cross-cultural communication; and the relationship between history and current world events.

My teaching style emphasizes understanding and discussion rather than simply memorizing facts. We'll examine why countries and leaders make the choices they do, how governments negotiate and cooperate, and how historical and cultural factors shape today's world.

Before transitioning into education, I served for 16 years as a U.S. Foreign Service Officer, with assignments in China, Indonesia, Madagascar, Chad, and Washington, D.C. I have also taught English in China and Japan, served as a graduate teaching assistant in international relations at American University, and taught undergraduate students at the University of Maryland.
