Within this class, the kids will not only be receiving sufficient help, they will be having fun whilst learning maths. The class includes 1 to 1 discussions on what topics the student is struggling in, allowing for help to be more subjective to each person. The classes will interesting yet challenging ,guaranteed to be enjoyable either way. As I am quite young, I am able to connect with children in a different light to older teachers because I am seen as more relatable and fun. I am also extremely familiar with the maths syllabus for primary school so lessons will be extremely thorough and well thought out. Above all, classes will be a safe space for students to put forward their struggles and anything they need to talk about, within an educational setting, will be talked about. I teach one-to-one Maths and Physics to GCSE, A-Level and university students, online and in person around Birmingham.

I hold an MSc in Electronics and Electrical Engineering with Distinction from the University of Chester, where I now teach and assess postgraduate students as a visiting lecturer. Alongside that I've been tutoring privately for several years, across GCSE, A-Level and first-year university modules. I've published two international conference papers, so the maths I teach isn't something I learned once and repeat from a textbook. I use it.

How I teach:

Every student starts in a different place, so the first thing I do is find out what they actually understand rather than what the syllabus assumes they should. From there I break difficult ideas into small steps, work through plenty of examples, and set focused practice between sessions.

I care more about a student knowing why a method works than memorising the steps, because understanding is what survives exam pressure when a question is worded unfamiliarly. Lessons are structured but relaxed. Students should feel comfortable asking the questions they think are silly, because those are usually the ones that matter most.

I'm patient with mistakes and honest about what still needs work. If a student isn't ready for a topic, I'll say so and we'll go back a step rather than pretend otherwise.

Term has just started, which is the best point in the year to build a routine before mocks in November and December. If your child is beginning Year 11 or Year 13, or retaking GCSE Maths this November, putting support in place now makes a real difference by the time the real papers arrive.
