Every course starts with a free 30-minute meeting. I look at your games or we play through a few positions together, I tell you honestly where your level is, and we agree on what the first ten lessons should fix. Nothing is off the shelf: a 900-rated child and an 1800-rated club player need completely different work.

How a lesson runs:
- A live video lesson on Lichess or Chess.com - you see my board, I see how you think.
- Openings: a small, practical repertoire you can actually remember, chosen to fit your style.
- Middlegame: pawn structures, piece placement, and how to form a plan when nothing forcing is available.
- Endgames: the positions that really decide games - rook endings, king and pawn, opposite-coloured bishops.
- Calculation and tactics: trained with timed exercises so the skill holds up on a real clock.
- Homework after every lesson, and your own games analysed move by move before the next one.
- Tournament preparation: opponent research, time management and recovering after a loss.

Tournament preparation and game analysis with a FIDE Master, for club players and rated juniors

This class is for players who already compete: club players, rated juniors, and adults preparing for a specific tournament. If you are starting from the beginning, my other class is the better fit.

We start with your own games. You send me five or six recent ones, and in the first session I show you the pattern behind your losses - not the individual blunders, but the recurring decision that keeps costing you points. Most players are losing rating to two or three habits, and naming them is half the work.

From there we build the preparation around your calendar:

- Opening repertoire that is narrow enough to prepare properly, chosen for the tournaments you actually play.
- Opponent research before a round: what they play, where they are uncomfortable, what to steer towards.
- Middlegame plans out of your own structures, so preparation and play connect.
- Endgame technique for the positions that decide competitive games - rook endings above all.
- Calculation under time pressure, trained with a clock, because untimed exercises do not transfer.
- Time management and how to play the round after a loss.

Every game you play between lessons is analysed move by move before we next meet, and you get written homework.
