Experience / Qualifications
Certificate of Education, Associated Board (ABRSM)
Diploma in Orchestral Studies (NCOS), Goldsmiths College, London
B.Sc (Chemical Physics) University of Sussex
4 A level, including Music
Since 1989 I have worked as a freelance violinist in orchestras playing in venues in London and the south-east; I have also played in smaller bands, and with guitarists playing in smaller venues. With some of these small groups etc I have undertaken tours of community venues around Ireland and the UK, and at several festivals.
I have taught at schools in Highbury and in Havering from 1988-2005, and from 2011-2019 taught in many schools in Newham as part of borough-wide tuition scheme. This was closed, and I began teaching for Tower Hamlets in January 2020.
Throughout this time I have taught a small number of private students, entering them for exams where they wished to do this. I enjoy watching students make a breakthrough in their understanding of the violin and how o play I, and next to be able to play a tune they know!
