I have developed a breadth of experience in teaching piano and singing (classical and musical theatre) both privately, in schools and music academies. This teaching experience also included tutoring music theory, aural, sight-reading exercises, and leading singing workshops.

I am familiar with different singing syllabuses such as ABRSM (also for piano grades 1-5), LCM Musical Theatre and Pop Vocals. I believe by combining technical exercises and performance of varied repertoire, the students can develop their knowledge and confidence.

Extra information

I'm familiar with different online teaching platforms but I prefer to use ZOOM.

When teaching piano I will ask to receive the score (via email) that we'll be learning before the lesson begins (if I don't have it), so I can follow the music during the lesson.

When teaching singing I will ask to prepare two devices before the lesson begins: one to take the video-call for the lesson and another one to set up YouTube karaoke links for the student to sing along to.

You'll also need a pencil, a notebook (and perhaps some manuscript paper).

Welcome to my piano teaching studio! I am a professional pianist offering private piano and theory lessons for students of all levels. As a pianist with over 14 years of teaching experience in Europe and the USA, as well as over 23 years of playing/performing, I enjoy motivating my students with music of their own preferred style and interest, whether that be classical or contemporary. My main goal is to promote a positive experience and love for music-making during the learning process. If the student is interested in a more structured approach, I guide preparation for grades 1-8 of the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM) piano and music theory exams where my students consistently receive highest marks. I also have successful experience preparing students for conservatory entrance auditions, masterclasses, and competitions in the Europe, the USA, India, and Canada. We have class concerts at Pianos Maene for interested students twice per year. I am happy to provide either a more relaxed or a serious approach to learning piano, we simply need to discuss the personal goals and preferences of each student.

My own studies are as follows: I have obtained two postgraduate performance degrees at the Royal Conservatory of Antwerp: "Concertsoloist" in Piano Performance and "Chamber Music” (under the guidance of esteemed professor Sergei Edelmann). Prior to this, I received my Bachelor and Masters degrees in Piano Performance/Music from the University of Minnesota - Minneapolis (with Prof. Lydia Artymiw) and Texas Christian University, Fort Worth (with Dr. Tamas Ungar). My experience includes collaboration with many different instrumentalists and singers, performing as a soloist and collaborative member in several orchestras, and receiving top prizes in several competitions. While maintaining my performance and recording career in Belgium at present, I am developing my private music studio in central Antwerp and look forward to meeting new students.

Hello!

I’m Elena, I’m Italian and I’m an opera singer, currently actively performing in the contemporary field :)
On top of my artistic career, which is now 20+ years old, I have 10 years of solid everyday experience in the musical teaching field, with particular regards for online teaching.
My specialties are: teaching opera voice and kids’ vocality. For both of these, any level, even absolute beginner is 100% welcome!

I’ve been training children and teens ever since I graduated from my position at La Scala children choir at 18 years old. I love working with kids, and it warms my heart to think of how many little faces I have already had the privilege of meeting thanks to this career. I have helped so many access to the children choirs of their respective cities, and with so many many others I have simply participated in their musical learning journey, which makes me equally proud and happy.

Teaching adults is a completely different matter, of course, but it’s probably even more thrilling to me because it allows me to spend the day navigating the fascinating routes of lyrical singing technique. I know how opera studies can be confusing - to say the least; I try my best to represent a safe place for anybody who wants to explore this ancient form of art, as well as to clarify its key points and guide my students to building a correct repertoire.

About the Lesson

I am a patient and dedicated piano teacher, working with students of all ages and levels. Every lesson is tailored to your goals, learning style, and musical interests.

I can teach you reading sheet music or playing by ear, depending on your preference and goals. I can also help you improvise and create your own music in the styles you enjoy.

I also have strong experience working with students with ADHD and dyslexia, adapting lessons to make learning clear, structured, and engaging.

I focus on healthy technique, musicality, and effective practice habits to build confidence and avoid tension or injury. I also help students develop a technique that prevents common issues such as tendonitis, which is very important for long-term playing. You’ll also receive support outside lessons, including answers, feedback, and video explanations when needed.

I prepare students for ABRSM and Trinity exams (Grades 1–8 and Diplomas), but I also teach students who simply want to enjoy playing. My students range from age 3 to 75+, and all make meaningful progress.

Online lessons are just as effective as in-person ones. I use a professional multi-camera setup and high-quality audio so you can clearly see technique and movement. Most of my lessons (95%+) are taught online.

Curriculum

There is no single method that fits everyone, so I adapt all materials to you.

For beginners, I often use Alfred’s Basic Piano Library. For classical and jazz development, I work with ABRSM and Trinity syllabi. I’m always happy to use other methods if you prefer.

Alongside structured materials, I include music you enjoy and focus on essential skills that apply across all styles—from classical to modern music.

I teach for all levels, from children starting from zero to students who want to prepare certifications at the Conservatories, passing through amateurs or simply curious of any age.

I firmly believe in the importance of knowing how to read music and this is exactly what I teach first, obviously adapting the method to the age of my students: knowing how to read music is knowing one more language, which, if learned well, won’t ever be forgotten (like riding a bicycle!) and it is an invaluable wealth. ¿Por qué aprender conmigo?

Cuento con una Licenciatura en Música del Cornish College of the Arts en Seattle, Washington, y tengo más de 14 años de experiencia en la enseñanza musical.

También he trabajado profesionalmente como cantante de música clásica en Seattle, aportando a mis clases tanto mi experiencia en el escenario como mi formación musical académica.

Mi enfoque combina una técnica vocal sólida con la música que realmente disfrutas. ¡Creo que las clases deben ser educativas, motivadoras y divertidas!

Hi !

Coming from a family of musicians, I started playing music very young, with the trumpet, giving me a strong rhythmic and theoretical foundation, then I started playing guitar about ten years ago.

I can adapt to any style of music and have had access to different teaching methods allowing me to adapt to each student.

However, I have a specialty in metal and rock where we could go further

The lessons I offer are suitable for all levels, whether you are a beginner or advanced. I can support you in your projects, whether it's playing your favorite songs, learning and discovering new styles, or progressing with specific techniques; we will work together to achieve your goals.
I also have extensive experience in groups and on stage which allows me to coach you on the stage aspect, or on vocal accompaniment if you are interested.
I can also give you solfège lessons, whether it's to improve your knowledge of harmony, rhythm, reading, or other aspects.
