This class is intended for those who have little to no experience with music theory, but would like to start. You will learn how to read notes on a grand staff, how to identify different key signatures, the units used to measure rhythm and time, and other basics of music theory.

A keyboard is helpful for those with a tactile learning style to help them identify where different notes are located, but it is not necessary.

I am a junior at Butler University with a 3.88 GPA. I will graduate in May 2027 with a Bachelor's in Music Arts. I graduated from North Central High School in 2023 with a NC Honors Diploma.
Experience / Qualifications
I have played piano for 15 years, viola for 9 and voice for 7. I have taken music theory classes for years and continue to take them at university. I play viola in the Butler Symphony Orchestra.
