I specialize in teaching cultural music from around the world. I teach both history and ethnic instrument music instruction. Some of the instruments i teach are the Indian classical and folk tabla, Afghani rubab, Middle Eastern Oud, Middle Eastern Dumbek, Deff (frame drums), traditional flamenco rhythms and more on cajon, flamenco guitar and more.

The History class is exclusively for those interested in learning about world music history. I focus on a region or country of the world every 3 weeks. Students get to learn the history, spiritual traditions, music and more in each of these 3 weeks. There is alot of discussions and listening to various forms of ethnic music. Including watching videos. This is a perfect class for those who are interested in cultural awarness

The music instruction class is for those who are interested in learning basics to advanced skills on various ethnic instruments. I am very adapting to where the student wants to take their lessons. If the lessons are for a purpose of general learning skills which they can incooperate into their own styles, then I focus on that. If the lessons are for traditional advanced tecnical performance on an instrument, then i focus on that. I also teach these music classes with a therapeautic/ spiritual focus for those who may want that approach.

About Me

Hello, I want to say a few things about myself.
I am originally from India but have lived most of my life in the US. I have been an international touring artist for the past 20 years collaborating with world class artist including Gypsy Kings, Jeronimo Maya, Willie Nelson, Ustad Aashish Khan, Ustad Shujaat Khan, Baschir Attar...... I have also travelled and lived in the Middle East, Europe, North Africa, musically exploring and learning about these cultures. I have hands on experience and knowledge of these cultures and their musical forms and instruments.
I bring to my music classes an authentic experience. World music is different in learning than Western traditional music such as classical or other forms. World music is not notated, so it allows a student and teacher to teach and learn by exploring the possibilities through traditional techniques, experimentation, listening/observing and mimicking, improv while connecting to a spiritual meditative awarness. I bring to my classes all of these elements of the students choosing depending on where they want to go with their musical experience.
I have taught music and Nada yoga(yogic science of sound and healing) for mentally and physically challenged students as well. I am a very patient teacher. I love teaching all ages. I don't teach everyone the same way. I tailor lessons according to individual goals and needs. I insist on the importance of technique and musicality.

I also guide all my students even outside of the teaching time, by responding to all their questions (music theory or technical) and sending them videos.

I teach how to prevent Piano Injuries by focusing on proper technique, posture, and practice habits.

My professional experience includes coaching students of all levels and ages. I successfully prepared the students for their Piano Exams, like ABRSM, Trinity Grade, from grades 1-8, with merits and distinctions, and more advanced exams as well (Performance Diplomas).

I teach for the Enjoyment of Music as well. I believe you can learn to play the piano at any age. My oldest student is over 75 years old, and my youngest one is 3 years old. They made great progress, and I am sure you could do the same.

I've never met anyone who didn't have musical abilities! You can be a serious or a recreational player. The only requirement is the willingness to spend some time at the piano.

I conduct my lessons using a combination of 4 cameras for optimum visibility, and a quality microphone which my students find very helpful. This allows them to see a very clear visual demonstration alongside my verbal explanation.

I can confidently say that Online Lessons are the same as In-Person Lessons.

CURRICULUM

I do not believe one method works for all students. I have used many different lesson books and resources over the years.

For beginners I like to use Alfred method books for basics concepts and for Classical and Jazz Piano technique I like to use ABRSM books (grade 1-8). If my student feels that they can learn better from another books, I am glad to adapt my teaching strategies to their needs.

Along with the lesson books below, I use a lot of supplemental materials based on the students' interests. I also aim to teach their favorite songs as soon as possible.

I like to clearly explain and demonstrate piano technique. In this way, the students are able to apply the information on similar passages from all genres of music.

At the end of the semester every student will perform at the winter and summer concerts held every year and will have the possibility of making a recording session with the material worked during the term. With this, the student will not only be able to see his progress and work, but also will give him a direct experience of performing and working on a live or studio recording session, which is a fundamental part of the developing process of every musician.

I offer piano lessons for adults and children, tailored to your goals and preferences. Each lesson lasts 45 minutes. Lessons are conducted in English, German and Russian. I teach piano at home in Vienna’s 3rd district and online on a beautiful Yamaha piano.

I have a full class of 13 students. Each semester, I organize a recital. If they wish, even my online students can take part through a live stream :)

I am an award-winning pianist in international competitions, a graduate of the Moscow Conservatory named after P.I. Tchaikovsky (BA), and currently a student at the Anton Bruckner University in Austria (MA).

I have developed my own teaching methodology, which varies depending on the student's age, skill level, and preferences. With extensive teaching experience for both adults and children, I have completed pedagogical practice and a piano teaching methodology course at the Moscow Conservatory. I teach beginners from scratch, prepare school students for exams, competitions, concerts, and entrance exams. Additionally, I teach solfeggio, music theory, ear training, rhythm development, hand positioning, and stage performance skills. I work on both classical repertoire and any pieces the student desires. I create custom arrangements for my students, including simplified versions of difficult pieces.

My online setup makes the lessons feel just like in-person: I use a tripod to demonstrate my hands and provide an online screen display for sheet music. After each lesson, I send video tutorials for clear, visual examples.

I teach online via Zoom, using software which allows you to see the exact keys I'm playing on my keyboard.

My teaching method is to focus on whatever type of music the student loves most, and to build from there. I believe that many people give up their dream of playing an instrument simply because they aren't inspired enough, so my goal is to instill a love for music, whatever that means personally for each individual student.

Everyone learns differently and has their own pace and rhythm. I have some students who like to have a regular weekly or biweekly lesson, and others who just get in touch once in a while when they have digested the previous lesson and feel ready to build on it. Whatever the case, I am very flexible and we can figure out what works best for you.

A bit about me:

Originally honing my skills on the British jazz scene and holding residencies in restaurants and bars around the country, I then went on to tour the world playing on cruise ships, hotels and festivals. I returned to London to complete my master's in jazz piano at the Guildhall School of Music, and during this time performed regularly at Ronnie Scotts, The Vortex and many other venues across the UK. I then spent two years in South America learning about salsa and Cuban music. I now mainly work as a transcriber, writing sheet music for all instruments including full Big Band scores. I have also worked extensively in musical theatre, most recently as musical director for 'Jersey Boys', and on the first US national tour of 'Summer: the Donna Summer Musical'. The video shown below is from my stint playing and directing 'After Midnight', a show set to the music of the Duke Ellington Big Band.
