I offer Spanish classes for all levels and all age groups. I have been tutoring Spanish for more than 3 years now after having graduated from a bilingual Spanish school. I have an extensive experience as a tutor for adult learners as well as children as I worked in language summer camps and have been working as a nanny.

When tutoring, I always make sure that my classes are professional and well prepared at the same time. When working with children I try to make my classes fun because I believe that it helps to make learning easier for them. I listen to my students and adjust my classes specially for each of them according to their needs. I use a wide range of sources all in the target language simply to make my lessons as lively as possible because I believe that it is the best way to learn easily. I come from Slovakia, where I studied in a bilingual Spanish school Párovská 1, Nitra, Sección bilingüe de Ramón y Cajal. I graduated with a C1 level of Spanish as I did all my subjects in Spanish language and also obtained a State certificate for sciences in Spanish.

I am in my second year studying a BA in Language and Culture at UCL. I study Russian and French and take other content modules in culture both Russian and French, journalism and linguistics.

Experience / Qualifications

I started tutoring in the summer of 2017, when I worked in a language school called Volis Academy in central Bratislava, Slovakia. I worked in different classroom settings and taught various age groups. I taught Spanish and English to employees of big companies in Bratislava, such as Electrolux and Johnson’s Controls. These were usually conducted individually or in groups of two people. I also gave private conversational lessons in Spanish and a beginner adults group lesson in Spanish that I taught two times a week and it was a pleasure to see them make the progress they did. I also worked as a lector in English camps for children where I had to teach children English in the mornings and then spend the afternoons doing different activities with them.

I have extensive experience working with children, having worked as an au-pair looking after 3 children now aged 12, 11 and 9. I tutor them in a wide range of subjects including English, Maths, History, French and Spanish and am familiar with the primary educational syllabus. Moreover, I privately tutored English to an 8 year old Spanish boy, Ernesto, who was living with his grandparents in my town in Slovakia.

My name is Dani and I am Mexican. I always ask my students about their specific goals and their preferred way of learning a language. In my classes I like to take a conversational approach, but this depends entirely on the needs of my students. I use different books with different didactic material, mostly Aula Plus and Bitacora. I also try to practice all skills: talking, writing and listening. If the student wants it, I leave homework, which I correct during the week before the next lesson, so that we can make the most of the lesson time. I share a word or phrase of the week with my students to build a useful vocabulary. Teaching is my passion. I feel motivated by the progress of my students, which I believe also keeps them motivated. German and Spanish are my native languages and I speak fluent English, I also speak fluent Dutch (with a little accent). Therefore, I can explain concepts in all these languages. However, I prefer to speak Spanish as much as possible, also for the beginners lessons, because I believe that people learn the language better that way.
