About Me

Cellist Gabriel was born and raised in England.
During his career as a soloist and as a guest artist, notably with the Ensemble Alternance in Paris, Gabriel has revived forgotten masterpieces and created more than sixty new works. Gabriel has performed at Merkin Hall in New York at the St. Lawrence Center in Toronto, at the Musée d'Orsay in Paris in association with IRCAM and Radio-France, at the Aldeburgh Festival (UK) and at the Forbidden City Concert Beijing Hall. He has been both resident artist and chamber music coordinator at the Atlantic Music Festival (Maine, USA) since 2016.

Education

Gabriel obtained his doctorate in music from the University of Montreal in 2015. His most influential teachers were Clive Greensmith (Tokyo Quartet), David Finckel (Emerson Quartet) and Daniel Domb, former principal cello of the Toronto Symphony Orchestra. He was trained in chamber music by Menahem Pressler, Valentin Erben (Alban Berg Quartet), Arnold Steinhardt (Guarneri Quartet), Richard Young (Vermeer Quartet) and in Berlin by Eberhard Feltz.

A master's student at Concordia University and a cellist at the Orchestre Symphonique de l'Isle, I offer cello lessons for beginners and intermediate musicians. Having studied music at the Massenet Conservatory in Saint-Étienne (France) and through the Electroacoustics minor at Concordia, I have 18 years of experience with the instrument and 10 years of orchestral practice. Hello there, I am Sahara and I’m 24 years old. I hold my Bachelor’s and Master’s degree from Mcgill University in cello performance. This past year I’ve worked for music agencies in Tokyo, toured Japan, and returned to Montreal to pursue a chamber music career.
I have a passion for teaching all ages. I believe that every student has a natural gift to bring to music and their instrument- and it is my job to nurture it while facilitating proper technique and approach that will allow them to play their best. I tailor my style for every student, and I am all about open communication.

This year I am starting my Bachelor in Interpretation at the Faculty of Music of the University of Montreal. Over the past six years, she has delved into the oud, integrating it into her original compositions.

With 26 years of teaching experience, Nadine offers instruction in a diverse range of styles, including Pop, Funk, Blues, Rock, R&B, Jazz, and Classical.
