Cello lessons for all ages and skill levels - Classical, pop, RCM, and healthy technique!Translate this text using Google Translate.

I have experience teaching students at all ages and skill levels. I particularly enjoy helping beginners build their technique and love for the cello! My lessons are tailored to each student’s goals, level, and personality. Some students want a clear path through RCM exams, scales, études, and repertoire. Others want to play for fun, return to the cello after years away, work on pop or film music, or feel less tense and frustrated when they practise. I’m happy working with beginners, adult learners, returning players, and more advanced students looking for technical or musical refinement. A major focus of my teaching is helping students make playing feel easier. That means building a reliable technique, but also learning how to notice unnecessary tension, use the body more naturally, practise more effectively, and avoid the common habits that can lead to pain or injury. I try to explain things clearly and practically, without making lessons feel overly rigid or intimidating. Depending on the student, lessons may include classical repertoire, RCM preparation, scales and études, popular music, and practice strategies. My music theory background also helps me explain how music works and how it is structured. Most of all, I want students to feel supported, curious, and capable. Cello can be difficult, but it shouldn’t feel mysterious or physically punishing. Whether your goal is an exam, a performance, or simply enjoying the instrument more, I’ll help you build the tools to make steady, satisfying progress and have fun in the process!

Private cello and improvisation lessons for beginners - intermediate and advancedTranslate this text using Google Translate.

English follows I am a graduate of the highest music schools and universities in Switzerland (HEMU Lausanne, HEM Geneva) and in Canada (McGill Schulich School of Music, Montreal). I give my lessons at home / online but I also travel if necessary. I teach cello technique using various teaching methods with great classics such as Navarra, Lee, Feuillard, Dotzauer, Popper, Starker and many more... I teach for all levels: beginners - adults - intermediate, advanced and professional and in various styles of music: classical, jazz and world music, (Eastern Europe, Balkans, Near and Middle East, Asia Minor, North Africa and Brazil). I work a lot on posture in my teaching, because it is an element that I believe is essential in teaching a musical instrument and which is unfortunately not taken seriously or considered enough. I had the chance to work with Mrs. Aude Hauser who is a recognized physiotherapist in Switzerland and Europe specialized in musicians. I am a certified teacher from the Conservatories and Higher Music Schools of Switzerland, but also from the Association of Graduate Music Teachers of Quebec (APMQ), as well as universities in Canada. Instrument-wise, I also have a small cello collection, to be discussed. I also teach on weekends, depending on my availability. I am a graduate of the Universities of Music in Switzerland, HEMU, Lausanne, HEM, Geneva and in Canada (McGill Schulich School of Music). Hello ! Passionate and highly motivated, I offer tailor-made cello or baroque cello lessons, adapted to your organization, your personality and your desires. If you are looking for varied, supportive learning at your own pace, you are in the right place. For me, it is essential to give you the technical tools to approach the music you love with complete peace of mind. This learning process involves an analytical approach to body control and a refined awareness of movement. Drawing inspiration from the Alexander Technique and breath work, I help you find deep relaxation with the instrument. To achieve this, I create personalized exercises based on my own technical research. In addition, I utilize recognized progressive methods to solidify your foundation (Feuillard's Young Cellist Method, Valérie Aimard's CelloKids, Yampolsky, etc.). Then... it's time for the music of your dreams and sharing! Technique is simply a tool at the service of music. Alongside the fundamental work, we'll emphasize the joy of playing the repertoire of your choice: we'll work on the music you truly love. If a score doesn't exist or proves too complex, I'll create custom arrangements especially for you! But of course, music is first and foremost about sharing. I'll regularly accompany you in duets during our lessons to develop your listening skills and musicality. Indeed, playing together is very stimulating. Furthermore, I can occasionally organize meetings between students who wish to participate, giving you the opportunity to meet, exchange ideas, and play together in a friendly atmosphere. If you are passionate about early music, please note that I also offer lessons in Baroque cello. Whether you wish to begin or improve your skills on a historical instrument (gut strings, Baroque bow), or explore this specific repertoire with the aesthetics and phrasing of the period on your modern cello, I would be delighted to guide you in your learning. Feel free to contact me to discuss your musical preferences. I look forward to meeting you and starting this adventure together!

CELLO & MUSIC LESSONS FOR ALL AGES AND LEVELS WITH A PROFESSIONAL CELLIST WITH 10 YEARS OF TEACHING EXPERIENCE (IN PERSON AND ONLINE)Translate this text using Google Translate.

Are you in love with the sound of the cello but have never dared to start playing it? Have you been playing the cello as an amateur and now need an expert to guide you? Do you want to develop and improve your cello and musical skills? Do you need reinforcement lessons? Would you like to prepare for entrance exams to the conservatory? Would you love to join a youth orchestra and need help preparing for the auditions? ... These are the private cello lessons you were looking for! My name is Miriam, I am a graduate in Master of Classical Music at KASK & Conservatorium in Ghent. I've been teaching cello to children, teenagers and adults for 10 years, so I've acquired the necessary experience to be able to adapt to the different and personal needs and objectives of each student. My teaching methodology focuses on creating a friendly and relaxed environment (which does not mean undemanding!) in which students feel confident to express their own ideas and worries. In my lessons I focus on technical and postural questions, but we also reflect together on the music, as I like my students to develop their own musical ideas and not just imitate the teacher. Contact me now to schedule your first lesson and take the first step toward your musical aspirations! :)

Classical and modern cello classes in BarcelonaTranslate this text using Google Translate.

Classical and modern cello classes in BarcelonaTranslate this text using Google Translate.

Hello! I've been teaching continuously for over 10 years, and I'd like to explain what you can expect from a class with me. Personalized approach: The most important thing is to know what you want to achieve. I will tailor the lessons to your needs: playing for pleasure at home is not the same as preparing for entrance exams (although always with the same rigor). Your goals will influence the methodology, the organization of your studies, the repertoire, and so on. Relaxed (but rigorous) environment: Once you've defined your goals, classes will be dynamic and pressure-free. Note! "Relaxed" doesn't mean undemanding; we'll just avoid military methods—especially given my personality and sense of humor. Music, not just notes: My methods are very dynamic, with a special emphasis on hearing and musicality. No "read, play, and turn the page." I avoid approaches obsessed with reading sheet music without memorizing, listening, or understanding what is being played. I want you to own your performance and make artistic decisions. Warning! I might even make you sing. No stylistic barriers: Thanks to my training in Jazz and Modern Music, I give equal importance to all genres. Adapting to your tastes, we'll go from baroque to blues, from Haydn to bebop... or even Michael Jackson. Why not? If you identify with this approach, contact me! Learning the cello is a pleasure, and I'd love to share it with you!

I started learning the cello with absolutely no background in music, so I wasn’t sure what to expect. From the very beginning, Miriam made the process feel approachable and enjoyable. What stands out the most is her ability to adapt her teaching, she always finds a different way to explain something until it truly clicks. You can feel that her approach is shaped by years of experience and by everything she has learned from other musicians, but what makes the difference is how she passes that knowledge on. She doesn’t just teach technique, she shares her passion for music in a way that makes you want to keep going. She is patient, calm, and genuinely supportive, which makes a big difference when you’re starting from zero. I’ve really enjoyed learning the cello so far, and I’m grateful to have her guiding me through this journey.

The teacher was warm, attentive, and very clear in her explanations. She quickly identified areas I could improve and gave me practical tips to work on. Highly recommended!
