As a certified mathematics teacher, I have been teaching in the Yvelines region since 2022. I correct the brevet exam papers every year: I know exactly what is expected on exam day and where students unnecessarily lose points. My approach: the first session is used to pinpoint where the real problem lies. Nine times out of ten, the issue isn't the current chapter, but older concepts that haven't been fully grasped—algebraic manipulation in middle school, functions and automatic calculations in high school. We start there, then work our way back to the year's curriculum. Then, lots of practice and little theory. I don't do the exercises for the student: they must be able to do them on their own before the end of the session. That's the only criterion that matters for it to be reflected in the grades. For whom: from 6th grade to 12th grade. Remedial courses, preparation for the Brevet exam, advanced math specialization and supplementary math in high school, preparation for the Baccalaureate and the Grand Oral exam if needed. In person or online. Regular check-ins with parents on what is progressing and what still needs to be worked on.
