Experienced Psychology Tutor: Prepare for Exams and Improve your Essays
From 58 C$ /h
I have an MSc in Psychology with a specialisation in neuropsychology, and I'm a co-author on a paper published in Scientific Reports (Nature Portfolio). I've taught IB Psychology and university-level psychology for over five years, and I currently work as a psychometrician at a hospital, running cognitive assessments.
I sat IB Psychology myself, so I know how the mark schemes work and what examiners are actually looking for.
Here is what I can help you with:
- Preparing for exams, including working through difficult topics from articles and textbooks
- Study strategies built around how you actually revise
- Essay writing: structure, argument, and finding the right literature
- APA referencing
Here is how our lesson might go: we start with what you're finding difficult, work through the topic and how to structure your answers, then use the last stretch for practice questions. The tone is relaxed, but every session has a plan, and I can build practice questions from your own slides or syllabus.
Message me if you have any questions :) I teach in English and also speak Indonesian!

About Me
Hi, I'm Maira. I have an MSc in Psychology (Neuropsychology) from Maastricht University, I've taught IB and university-level psychology for over five years, and I currently work as a psychometrician at a hospital, running cognitive assessments. I'm also a co-author on a paper in Scientific Reports (Nature Portfolio).
How can I help you?
Exam preparation
Psychology reading lists are enormous, and most students spend their time on the wrong parts of them. I can show you how to read a scientific article quickly and still come away with the argument and the findings, and help you work out what's genuinely likely to come up. I design practice questions myself, based on your own reading list or syllabus, in the style your school or university uses.
Essay guidance
Finding the right sources, getting through long articles and structuring an argument is where most of the difficulty sits, and very little of it is about the writing itself. We work on the planning: how to search, what to keep, and how to build a structure before you write a word.
A bit about me
I got into neuroscience through Oliver Sacks' The Man Who Mistook His Wife For a Hat, and I've since led several research projects at university. I still find the subject genuinely interesting, which I think shows in how I teach it :)
