My name is Julia, I'm 25, I'm originally from the south of Spain but I lived in Madrid for the last 7 years, where I studied and worked. I am a lawyer and I am currently living in Leiden, where I study a Master's in Public International Law. I have very extensive previous teaching experience, both teaching English and Spanish to non-Spanish speakers. During the year 2019-2020, I lived in the United States and I worked as a Spanish Teaching Assistant for university students at Skidmore College (NY). In that context, I prepared classes for big groups, as well as private tutoring sessions for students of all kinds of levels. I also have experience working with kids, and I worked as a language teacher in India for a primary school for two months in the summer some years ago.

I have been teaching Spanish for more than 15 years and I have worked in several institutes and embassies as a teacher and cultural bridge. In that sense, both in my project with sacred languages such as philosophy and astrology and in language classes, I try to maintain the human dimension and respect the beauty and multidimensionality of communication. Apart from my background in philosophy at university, I am interested in art, politics, culture as an expression of an epoch, psychoanalysis, comparative religions, etc. In this context, with many of my more advanced students we work with texts and films where our interests intersect. For the more beginning classes the emphasis is also on conversation, but with a grammatical framework and progression. That is why I am interested in understanding the students‘ objectives. Whether learning for pleasure or for a trip, to take an international exam or for cultural reasons, I believe that framing the classes in a structure allows the creative to emerge.
