In this class, you will learn the basics of playing viola and Violin!

You will learn:
- Parts of the instrument
- How to care for your instrument over time
- How to read music
- Proper holding of the bow and instrument
- New technique
- New music and exercises
- Interpret performance instructions
- How to Perform in front of an Audience
- Other types of Music if the student desires (Example: Christmas Music, pop music, movie themes)

All ages and all beginning levels are welcome! Every musician has different strengths and weaknesses; this class will help you progress further in the start of your journey!

About Me

Hello there, my name is Eileen! I am currently a Sophomore attending the Irving St. Gilmore School of Music at Western Michigan University. My primary instrument is the Viola, and I have been playing for 8 years. My goal is to become a public music educator and share the joys that music brings to individuals of all ages and experiences.

Education

Pursuing my Bachelor's of Music Education: Instrumental Secondary. I have played with many orchestras and small ensembles throughout my secondary career, and have great experience in performing and making music! I also attended the MSBOA competitions and received all first-place ratings in all 3 proficiencies.

Experience / Qualifications

I have performed at the MSBOA at every proficiency with a first-place rating. I have also conducted my high school orchestra on many occasions! I also play the Violin, Cello, Double Bass, Piano, and recorder.
