📋 Full description

Why this class?
After 10 years closing deals and negotiating with international clients, I know the language that really moves business forward. I’m now pivoting into professional teaching and studying for my TEFL certification, so you’ll get the best of both worlds: real‐world business insight plus my fresh, energetic coaching style.

Who it’s for
• Adults who want to sound more natural and confident at work or in everyday conversation
• Professionals preparing for meetings, presentations, or job interviews in English
• Beginners who need a friendly guide to build solid grammar and vocabulary foundations
• French speakers who appreciate explanations in their native language (I’m fully bilingual 🇬🇧/🇫🇷)

What we’ll do together
• Pronunciation clinic: targeted drills & mouth‐position tips to reduce accent interference
• Active listening: shadowing, TED‐talk snippets, and role‐plays to sharpen comprehension
• Business English booster: emails, small talk, negotiation phrases, and industry‐specific jargon
• Grammar & vocab in context: quick, memorable exercises that stick (no dusty worksheets!)
• Immediate feedback and practical homework so you notice progress after every lesson

Method & tools
Zoom or Google Meet • shared whiteboard • authentic audio & video clips • customised Google Docs so your notes are always one click away

Bachelor in English/Spanish Translation, and holder of a CAP diploma (Certificate of Teaching Aptitudes) I give private English lessons for pronunciation, grammar, vocabulary, style, etc. through conversation. I taught English to groups of children in private schools, teenagers in remediation, then adults in the French Community of Belgium for 15 years. Belgian-American, I am native. I have traveled to London many times to visit art galleries and concerts with friends. I have stayed in the USA a large number of times because my family on my father's side lives there and family is important to me.

I provide teaching materials if necessary but a financial contribution for copies is required at the start of the course in addition to the amount of each lesson. I correct the errors by proposing one or more alternatives to the erroneous version but I do not cut the person off while they are speaking, I wait for the end of the sentence, the end of the paragraph, so as not to cut them off. fluidity. I also work by theme by providing copies with texts to read or grammar exercises to do, either at the moment or the next time. I give homework if it suits the student, otherwise, all the work is done in class, and the student reviews between sessions, for faster improvement in their level. We can also work on songs based on song lyrics. Texts based on press articles. It is necessary to be curious, to dare to ask questions, to dare to have a thirst for knowledge and a desire to learn, through trial and error. I use innovative methods. If I don't know how to answer a question, I write it down and answer it in the next class.

I am an American student living and studying in Brussels. My teaching methods are based largely on my own experiences studying French, German and Japanese, combined with careful consideration of the interests and learning style of the student.

The primary and most important motivation in language learning is the desire to understand and take part in another culture. I therefore try to understand why my students would like to learn English, and what aspects of English-speaking culture interest them, whether it be films, literature, music, etc.

Our lessons will be primarily conversations entirely in English (or as much as possible) with corrections when needed. Using your current English level and the kinds of mistakes you make as a guide, we can look at grammar, pronunciation, and other topics to improve your level.

If desired, we can prepare topics and resources ahead of class time, such as articles, movies, books, etc. to give us a theme for the conversation.
