My name is Alan. I am a professional Bassist/teacher with over 20 years of live playing, studio recording and teaching experience.
I teach from my studio in north London and deliver relaxed lessons based on the students self motivation and desire to improve.

I hold an A Level in Music
A BMus (Bachelor of Music) degree in popular music performance and also have a level 1 PTTLLS (Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector) teaching qualification.
I also have a Musicians Union Child protection certificate.

As a teacher at ICMP (formerly Guitar Institute) I helped design and deliver the countries first ever degree in popular music performance.

About the classes:
Created for complete beginners and those with some experience of Piano and Singing technique, this classes serve as an ideal starting point to develop piano and singing technique, to work on improvisation skills and sight-reading, to learn in depth music theory and chords and also to explore various music genres, to build up personal portfolio, self-confidence and stage presence.

Special programme for younger beginners “Music Wonderland” has been specifically designed for children as young as 3.5 up to 7 years old.

In addition I offer classes on music yoga and therapy which bring harmony, balance and open creative powers of an artist.

Classes take place individually and in a group.

Jazz piano is an excellent route for people who are looking for a less book-focused, more aural approach to learning an instrument. I can tutor beginners to the piano or classical-converts who are looking to experience jazz by condensing my education down into core principles. This method of learning helps you move away from the books and to start enjoying the piano with more confidence and skill. I teach with a strong emphasis on theory and aural listening and with my resources I can take you through basics to more advanced lessons.

I'm also fully equipped to teach music theory classes and to tutor in GCSE and A-Level music (composition, particularly) as well as teaching early level classical piano (up to ABRSM Grade 6).

Saxophone Lessons are extremely fun! The Saxophone is a great and enjoyable instrument to play. It is powerful yet soothing; beautiful sounding and relaxing instrument to enjoy. I recently graduated from Berklee College of Music in Boston, moved to London and now want to share my knowledge and passion about saxophone with others!

(If you are a beginner) You will be introduced to the fundamentals of saxophone playing, note-reading and improvisation, and develop these skills as the course progresses.

I teach violin and all brass instruments from beginner right through to grade 8. I also have experience teaching music theory and GCSE and A Level Music. I believe everyone is able to make music, and I always try to share my enjoyment and passion for music with my students, no matter what they want to learn and achieve.

I have a real passion for music and that's why I would love to help inspire and guide new musicians on their quest to learn the violin. Age is irrelevant when it comes to my lessons but the most important thing is that the student comes with a real incentive to learn.

Everyone's musical journey is different and many people decide to learn an instrument for a different reason. Therefore, the regular structure for a lesson would very much differ from person to person. For example, beginners would mostly focus on sight-reading, proper form and technique. However, someone with a slight musical background could begin by learning pieces that they want to play and I would guide them with how to encompass the piece better and make slight adjustments to their technique along the way.
When it comes to young children, I've worked in nursery and primary schools with ages from 3-7. The most important thing is that they have fun during the lessons and gain a real respect for music early on. Technique, theory and sight-reading are still incredibly important but what's most important is that the child is having an enjoyable time while learning.

I have a strong musical background as I've been playing violin and piano for 14 years, I also have a great understanding of music theory. I've performed in multiple concerts of sizes of up to 5000 attendees. I was also established enough to have achieved a full music scholarship to a performing arts secondary school and college. At GCSE I achieved an A* in music and I would be more than happy to help GCSE music students with their music theory and/or composition piece.

I am able to work with all ages and all levels of ability and experience. Whether you are starting from the beginning or you are a more experienced player looking to sharpen-up your playing, I am more than able to find a way to work with you based on what you wish to accomplish! I am also very happy to work with those who are preparing for exams and auditions to give an extra perspective and to give additional training and advice.

Born in Edinburgh, I graduated from King's College London in 2019 with an undergraduate degree in musicology. I attained my Flute Diploma (ABRSM) with distinction, and am continuing my studies at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, graduating in 2021. I am the winner of the British Flute Society's Young Artist Prize 2020 and the Guildhall Needlemakers' Prize for Woodwind 2020.

I am a 20 year-old undergraduate student with a highly musical background and a passion for the guitar. I've been playing the guitar for 15 years and the bass for 6. I studied drums, congas, timbales and other percussions with remarkable teachers with particular attention to Cuban techniques and developing my own style in jazz improvisation and I can pass on my skills with individual lessons or for little groups (max 3) by teaching drums, congas, latin percussions and jazz improvisation. I aim to teach in a joyful way with relaxing drum circle when in a group in order to create a team spirit instead of a competitive one within a no judgemental environment that can allow to make you feel at your ease and express the best of you.

Kodály's concepts are based on teaching, learning and understanding music through the experience of singing, giving direct access to the world of music with the most universal instrument. The Kodály approach to music education is student centered and skills are taught in a logical, sequential manner.

These can be individual lessons, as a part of your instrumental training or taken as a separate class.
