A graduate with a Masters from the Mozarteum Universität in Salzburg, I have had much experience teaching privately and as the assistant of my professor from Mozarteum. I can adapt my teaching style to what is needed by the student ranging from a fun lesson for pleasure/hobby or professional coaching. And why not practice your English at the same time? I can also teach in German or Chinese if needed. Currently only accepting online students.

For beginner students: I have violins in different sizes if you want to try out lessons without committing to buying an instrument/bow.
For all students: Due to the many concerts I have abroad, I have listed a typical week in Brussels but there maybe some adaptions depending on my concert schedule. Thank you!

About Me

My name is Jackie and I'm an Australian violinist currently based in the Brussels/Grimbergen area (with access to a studio in Kraainem!). I have a much experience teaching students ranging from beginner level (both children and and adults) to coaching students at conservatory level. Naturally, I am able to adapt my teaching style accordingly!

I am a violin teacher and violinist. Having taught the violin for 20 years and knowing in depth different instrumental techniques and different teaching methods, I can adapt my teaching to the needs, age and character of each student. In addition, my educational background combined with the unique experience and knowledge given to me by my relatively recent motherhood and my love for children and other human beings, has led me to pursue positive teaching with empathy towards the student who aims to make him happy, to love music and to acquire a solid basis for his overall development! After studying at the A. Steffani Conservatory of Castelfranco Veneto in Italy where he obtained the highest distinction, Gabriele then completed his Master's degree in violin with distinction at the Royal Conservatory of Mons with M° Eliot Lawson and Wibert Aerts. During his training, Gabriele also studied with Ilya Grubert at the Fondazione Musicale Santa Cecilia in Italy, Elina Vahala at the Hochschule Fur Musik Karlsruhe and took masterclasses with Ivry Gitlis, Stefano Pagliani, Elisabeth Perry, Igor Volochine, Vineta Sareika, Kati Sebestyén and Chouchane Sironossian. He is currently studying at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels with M° Shirly Laub and M° Frédéric d'Ursel in a specialized master's degree and Agrégation at the Royal Conservatory of Mons.

In 2018, Gabriele won the audition for the Jeugd Antwerp Simphony Orchestra (ASO) and for the Nationaal Jeugd Orkest (NJO); in 2019 he won the audition for European Union Youth Orchestra (Euyo) and Orchestra del Teatro Olimpico di Vicenza (OTO) and is also selected in 2020 for the Young Belgian Strings as well as the Antwerp Philarmonic Orchestra. He has collaborated with several orchestras in Italy and Belgium, including the Boho Strings Orchestra in Antwerp, the Ataneres Ensemble in Louvain, the Chapelle Musicale de Tournai in Tournai, the Assai Symphonia in Hasselt, the Orchestra of Archi Italiani and the Orchestra del Teatro Olimpico in Vicenza, Italy.

Very involved in the chamber music repertoire, Gabriele founded in 2018 with the pianist Julien Lejeune the Duo Aréthuse, in which they explore the romantic French and contemporary Italian repertoire, in search of an interpretation marked by accuracy, simplicity and of modernity. They are at the initiative of the creation in 2019 of the Hellens Ensemble, consisting of a string quartet, a piano and a lyrical singer, an ensemble with which they are interested in Belgian music and more particularly to the repertoire with voice.

Singing lessons
Discover your own voice as I support you developing your personal sound and the technique needed. We will be doing vocal warm ups, improvisation and sing the songs of your preference.

Violin lessons
Noticing that a lot of violin players are unable to play music without scores I tend to work using more the ears instead of scores. Besides learning songs and improvisation in the musical genre that the student prefers, I also emphasize on technique and posture.
