Private singing lessons for beginners/ intermediates: meeting breath, body and voice
From 106.64 C$ /h
First of all, if you tell yourself that:
- you don't know how to sing because one day someone told you that you "sing badly" or "wrong"
- you love to sing but only alone in the shower, in your car, or anywhere/when no one can hear you
- you would like to approach practice in a way other than "classical" musical learning (--> music theory, scales, restriction to a single range, etc.)
- you would like to gain more confidence in your vocal, rhythmic and/or breathing abilities
- you would like to work on your "musical ear", your (stage) presence and/or different techniques of artistic expression (vocal)
- you would like to learn more about your instrument which is your body, your breath and your voice in order to tame it and experience the ease and opulence in your singing
...and you find yourself (partially) in one or the other or each of these statements, it doesn't matter: there is a good chance that this course is made for you!
Meet your voice. Explore the places of resonance in your body, the range of your emotions, the chants of your thoughts. Let yourself be inspired...exhale...
Our body, this instrument - nay, this “nomadic cathedral” with its vaults, its alcoves, ... its multiple spaces of resonance - we are often intrinsically rather than intimately linked to it. The vibrations that we emit when we sound our breath, transforming into song, can prove to be a powerful tool in the resolution of tensions, the calming of the mind, but also in the (re)discovery of oneself through our body, our senses and our voice, this musicality that is unique to us.
We experience the world on a daily basis through our body and our senses, and the voice allows us to share these experiences with others, both in its daily and extra-daily communicative function; artistic; poetic. But when the spoken voice gives way to the singing voice, Music allows us to go even further... Sometimes even to touch what is called the Ineffable.
Oh yeah... Just that..! Don't panic, everything in its time ;)

About Me
A great lover of singing since I was very young, my journey began at the age of 6 in a children's choir and continued with learning music theory and the piano.
Later, I was admitted to the Flemish artistic secondary school of "Lemmensinstituut" (Leuven) where I followed four years of training containing - in addition to general courses - lessons in singing (choral), music and musical culture, dramatic art, declamation, dance, bodily expression, aesthetics, literary analysis, etc. etc.
Finally, after 5 years of university studies, here I am, a young worker with a bachelor's degree in Modern Languages and Literature (English-Russian) and a master's degree in Performing Arts. With the subject of my thesis: the contemporary and Western practice of so-called "sacred" singing, as well as the analysis of its representation. Which led me to observe, study and practice in depth a completely different approach to singing than the one I had known during my schooling. Indeed, while I started with a "Western" academic training, it was at the age of 17 that I discovered all the extraordinary richness of singing from oral traditions beyond the world and its cultures.
Since then, I have been training regularly with various singing and voice professionals in order to gather as much knowledge as possible on the subject and to transmit a practice that is as accessible as possible for all. And this, in order to (re)find "one's voice", in a more serene and more 'aligned' relationship with oneself and one's abilities (often much greater than one imagines), and to integrate its many benefits into daily life.

Hi there! I'm Lynn, a languages and all culture-related enthusiast with a particularly keen interest in singing, storytelling and transdisciplinary art. Which in turn led me to be a freshly graduated Master-student in Performing Arts, with a Bachelor's degree in Modern Languages and Letters where I primarily studied English as well as Russian linguistics and literature, along with a Dutch minor.
These university years gave me the opportunity amongst others to learn more in-depth about the subjects I was most passionate about during my Art Humanities, i.e. performance studies, philosophy, art - and cultural history, as well as literary/critical analysis of various different artforms.
Brought up bilingual (French-Dutch) from earliest infancy, I very early came to realise the many possibilities and encounters this opened up, which encouraged me to continue down this path of language learning and intercultural communication. At first, I was incredibly fortunate to benefit from the work of a truly invested and passionate English teacher during the scope of my humanities and to acknowledge all of the difference that it makes when learning a foreign language. Subsequently, prior to my studies I got the chance to travel to Ireland for a year during which I mainly worked as an au pair. This not only took my English to the next level, but also sharpened my childcare skills and pedagogical abilities.
Now that I've completed my studies and am opening up a new chapter of my working-life, I'm very excited to put all of this baggage to work along with you!
I wholeheartedly believe in the power of play and sharing fun, artistic and/or meaningful activities which help put things into practice in order to learn a new language in a lively, profound and sustainable way.
So, what do you think? Care to invite me aboard your learning journey?~ ⛵🗺️✨
