Private piano lessons and introduction to music

Student in the second year of a master's degree at the Haute Ecole de Musique de Genève, I offer piano lessons for all levels. From beginners to advanced students, I adapt my pedagogy according to the student and his needs, so that he progresses without stress and at his own pace. I am used to giving lessons to all types of students, and know in particular, thanks to my own experience, to teach students with motor and/or coordination disorders. Finally, I promise that the piano (and music theory!) will remain a pleasure that retains all its fun, and does not become a chore!

Student at the High School of Music in Geneva, I offer private lessons in Geneva or border area (Gaillard). Having already a teaching experience, I propose to make work of young students of all levels (or adults) as a rehearsal, associating working method, musicality, and pleasure to play. I can accompany the student to prepare some competitions, as well as support classes in music theory. I adapt the working time with the student according to his level and his needs.

Training for the future professional and the amateur in a global approach to music: musical culture, theoretical bases, introduction to chamber music (small groups), baroque violin ... To develop in the pupil the pleasure of playing but also to listen and understand the music.

I teach for all levels, from children starting from zero to students who want to prepare certifications at the Conservatories, passing through amateurs or simply curious of any age. I firmly believe in the importance of knowing how to read music and this is exactly what I teach first, obviously adapting the method to the age of my students: knowing how to read music is knowing one more language, which, if learned well, won’t ever be forgotten (like riding a bicycle!) and it is an invaluable wealth. Starting from that point I teach the position of the hand, the arm and the whole body at the piano, the fundamentals of the piano technique (giving great importance to the percussive movement of the finger and the distribution of weight), the understanding of musical language, the expression of the personality through the keyboard, the search for touch and knowledge of piano repertoire.

Welcome to the music class! Here, we are gonna discover the wonders of learning an instrument. From reading note letters, implementing a proper form to sight reading a piece, we are gonna learn in our own pace. If you're just learning music now and it feels like there's a lot to understand, don't worry we're gonna start from the basics. I will help you understand music and its elements. With your dedication and my guidance, I'm positive that we will get a good result!

I am a Spanish pianist and composer (MMus graduate from Codarts Rotterdam in both directions) with many years of teaching experience, and also very active in performing in various contexts. I give private piano lessons for all levels and styles (classical, jazz, Latin, new age, pop...), as well as music theory, composition and improvisation lessons. My lessons are distinguished by their dynamics, practical approach and adaptation to the needs and interests of the student. The lessons (live or online) take place in my studio next to the Maastunnel, where I have a premium stage piano and a top-quality webcam setup. I speak Dutch at an intermediate level, which is improving every day.

The older I get, the more I love. Especially during these times of immense ugliness and hate, wars and conflict, music- that's always been all about love - is the home I keep returning to. To me, mentoring someone is all about sharing the love for the instrument, thirst about the material, desire to explore new musical paths and respect for whatever happens whilst playing. Not only we will explore technical paths and understand rhythm under a totally different light but also communicate through improvisation and modal principles. My goal is for you to love the instrument a bit more, music a bit more and as Antoine de Saint-Exupéry said "Perhaps love is the process of my leading you gently back to yourself". So let's explore together the painstakingly beautiful process of music through the inner child.

One on one online lessons teaching music theory, piano, guitar or ukulele. We can do just one instrument or a mix of music theory and an instrument. You can pick what genre or songs you would like to learn or just the basics. All ages and skill levels are welcome!

My Music Theory for All Levels course is designed to be flexible, meeting the needs of beginners and advanced learners alike. We can cover any and all elements of music theory, tailored to your current skills and goals. Beginners can start with the basics--intervals, rhythms, and tonality--while more experienced students can dive into advanced concepts like counterpoint, modulation, and extended techniques. We’ll use your prefered music and instruments (or voice!) to make the learning process relevant and enjoyable. Whether you're a curious beginner, a performer looking to refine your knowledge, or a composer aiming for a deeper dive, this course is for everyone.

I teach online via Zoom, using software which allows you to see the exact keys I'm playing on my keyboard. My teaching method is to focus on whatever type of music the student loves most, and to build from there. I believe that many people give up their dream of playing an instrument simply because they aren't inspired enough, so my goal is to instill a love for music, whatever that means personally for each individual student. Everyone learns differently and has their own pace and rhythm. I have some students who like to have a regular weekly or biweekly lesson, and others who just get in touch once in a while when they have digested the previous lesson and feel ready to build on it. Whatever the case, I am very flexible and we can figure out what works best for you. A bit about me: Originally honing my skills on the British jazz scene and holding residencies in restaurants and bars around the country, I then went on to tour the world playing on cruise ships, hotels and festivals. I returned to London to complete my master's in jazz piano at the Guildhall School of Music, and during this time performed regularly at Ronnie Scotts, The Vortex and many other venues across the UK. I then spent two years in South America learning about salsa and Cuban music. I now mainly work as a transcriber, writing sheet music for all instruments including full Big Band scores. I have also worked extensively in musical theatre, most recently as musical director for 'Jersey Boys', and on the first US national tour of 'Summer: the Donna Summer Musical'.
