About Me

Passionate about jazz since I was born, I have had the opportunity to play and teach around the world: New York, Japan, Paris and Geneva. My career has allowed me to collaborate with prestigious big bands (Jazzmobile, Jazz Interactions, Muse Big Bands, etc.) and to share the stage with great musicians.

I have taught jazz history and practice at Yale, Rutgers University, and the Lili and Nadia Boulanger Conservatory in Paris. I have a Ph.D. in ethnomusicology from Columbia University. I am also the author of several books on jazz and Cuban and Brazilian music.

I'm an award-winning Canadian classical pianist and experienced teacher offering piano lessons for all levels, beginner to advanced. I have been immersed in music, and particularly the piano, for over 40 years. I was trained by concert professors, who were themselves trained by the greatest (my own professor's piano teacher was taught by Alfred Cortot). I learned music theory at the Conservatoire and harmony and counterpoint at the HEM in Geneva. At the same time, I have a Bachelor's degree in Musicology from the Université des Lettres de Genève.
