I am a musician formerly based out Dallas, TX, but have recently moved as of January 2023 to Annaberg-Buchholz, Germany! I performed in orchestras across the North Texas and Louisiana area as an orchestral violist, having played professionally for 11 years. I have also traveled abroad and performed in concert halls in other places of the world such as Muscat, Leipzig, Prague and Kraków. As a teacher I have 12 years of experience of working with violin and viola students of a variety of ages, but primarily with students in the middle school to high school age range in North Texas public schools. My students have gone on to high placings in All-State and All-Region competitions and have performed in many solo competitions.

I invite those who are new or proficient to the violin or viola into my studio. It is my feeling that anyone of any age can play as long as the desire to make music is present. Also note, that as of October 2021, Michael has been fully vaccinated with a COVID-19 vaccine booster and is available to book in person lessons.

Over the past 20 years, I have had the privilege of teaching students from diverse nationalities and backgrounds. I have worked with students from various schools, including local Hong Kong schools, Hong Kong International School, Kowloon Junior International School, and the French International School etc.

I am adaptable and capable of teaching students with different personalities, whether they are highly energetic or more reserved. My primary goal is to instill a passion for music in the next generation, helping students not only grow as musicians but also as confident performers.

My aim in teaching is to enable the student to experience the beauty, richness and also the fun side of music, by helping to develop the technical skills needed to express oneself on the violin. I find it very important to take into account the personal goals and wishes of the student and to create an atmosphere of encouragement, creativity and mutual understanding.
