Hello! I am an experienced artist and educator from the U.K. Educated at the prestigious Slade School of Fine Art, UCL, I have also studied at the Royal Drawing School. Completing their Drawing Intensive program. I worked for a company in London teaching art workshops and then independently here in Berlin. My skills focus on drawing, painting, and printmaking. I am also skilled in areas of art history and theory (with an emphasis on 20th and 21st century). I am able to help students develop exhibitions and portfolio preparation . Students with an interest in working more conceptually are also welcomed. I always help students to contextualise their work, i provide books as source material. I am also able to set reading for the class, where applicable. We can also work on ongoing projects, such as a children’s book. I am interested in technique but also in the individual idiosyncratic ways each individual makes work. Art should be therapeutic too and I always make sure to design classes at the appropriate level. Art has always been my focus in life and I can’t wait to share my skills and enthusiasm with you. My classes also offer children a good opportunity to communicate and improve in English.

Throughout the years I have developed piano skills with which I can play all sorts of compositions by ear as well as improvise variations based on the main structure of a piece. In this course I will show you the practical and theoretical basics to improvise as well as learn pieces on the piano without note sheets. It will not be a "classical music lesson" although I will reference classical music and talk about music theory, music history and the physics of sound a lot. It won't have a "syllabus" either on the basis that every person needs different sets of skills to improve upon. It will be more of a discussion/dialogue accompanying the piano where we will expand on our ideas about music. I have a great experience when it comes to teaching students. I love making concepts easy to learn and with fun too. I believe anything can be taught to children if its in a fun way. Besides leading the critically acclaimed quartet Tether, Hayden also performs with his solo electroacoustic project, has worked as a touring musician for many years, and recorded on numerous albums. He also works as a sound designer for advertising, theater, and film. He holds a degree in jazz performance and composition and has been taught by some of the greatest living bass players in the world, including Drew Gress and Chris Lightcap.

I've been teaching (young) adults in various urban styles for over 14 years, including hip hop, locking, popping, breaking, and house. I adapt my lessons to your existing level. So I train with beginners the basics such as: Isolation, weight shifting, basic rhythm and coordination with the help of various Foundation Steps.
