Mathematics for MYP and IB Diploma Programme Mathematics (Analysis & Approaches and Applications & Interpretation, SL & HL).Translate this text using Google Translate.

I specialize in tutoring Mathematics for MYP and IB Diploma Programme Mathematics (Analysis & Approaches and Applications & Interpretation, SL & HL). Mathematics teaching is my true passion. I hold a Diploma in Electrical Engineering and a Master’s degree (MA) in Education, which provide me with a strong mathematical foundation as well as solid pedagogical training. I have also completed an IB Mathematics workshop, allowing me to align my teaching with the IB philosophy and assessment requirements. I aim to create a supportive and friendly learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and building confidence. Each lesson is structured, starting with a clear explanation of the fundamentals, followed by guided examples and independent practice to ensure full understanding. I regularly assign and review homework, track student progress, and adjust my teaching approach according to individual needs. I strongly believe in steady progress through consistency, clarity, and trust. I am also flexible and supportive outside lesson times and can be reached via WhatsApp or email if students need clarification or extra help. My greatest satisfaction comes from seeing students understand concepts deeply, gain confidence, and achieve measurable improvement.

My English lessons build confidence, creativity and curiosity through reading, writing, speaking and listening activities!Translate this text using Google Translate.

My English lessons are designed to be engaging, supportive, and highly interactive, giving every child the confidence to read, write, speak and listen with growing independence. I create a warm classroom atmosphere where pupils feel safe to share ideas, make mistakes, and express themselves. Each lesson combines clear learning objectives with a balance of whole-class teaching, guided practice, and hands-on activities. Children regularly explore stories, poems, and non-fiction texts, developing their comprehension through discussion, prediction, and inference. Writing tasks encourage creativity and accuracy, with a strong focus on vocabulary building, sentence structure, punctuation, and the use of adjectives, verbs, and connectives. Phonics and spelling strategies are woven through the lessons to strengthen decoding and encoding skills, while speaking and listening are developed through partner talk, drama, role-play, and group discussion. Above all, my English lessons aim to nurture: • confidence in communicating ideas • creativity in storytelling and writing • curiosity about language • careful listening to others • a love of reading that extends beyond the classroom Every pupil is supported to move from emerging understanding to secure mastery, ensuring steady progress and a genuine enjoyment of English.

Violin lessons in BS (for adults and children. Online or in the studio)Translate this text using Google Translate.

It is said that the violin is very close to the human voice. By playing the instrument you can transform the voice of your heart into sound. My lessons offer both an introduction to the fundamentals of violin playing and the pleasure of playing a piece. Learning the basics deepens your understanding of the instrument and its interaction with your body, stimulating both your right and left brain hemispheres, which also promotes inner development. For aspiring violinists, I also give advice on posture, bow control (e.g. avoiding tendonitis) and further development regarding work in ensembles such as orchestras and chamber music if desired. Classes usually take place at my home. Online instruction is also possible. Once a year (this year in November) there will be a concert for my students in Basel. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- About me: I started playing the violin when I was four years old. First at home, then at family celebrations and finally among and with well-known musicians in Japan. With great curiosity and passion for music, I moved to Europe in 2000, where I completed my artist diploma, concert exam, and additional chamber music studies with the world-renowned Alban Berg Quartet at the Cologne University of Music. I received further valuable inspiration through studies with members of the Artemis Quartet at the Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel in Brussels. During my training I was able to successfully participate in several international competitions, including the 23rd International Michelangelo Abbado Competition in Milan (2nd prize and the Paolo Borciani Prize) and the Alberto Curci Competition in Naples (3rd prize). I currently perform regularly with the Basel Symphony Orchestra and the Basel Chamber Orchestra. In addition to my orchestral work, I enjoy chamber music. I've been giving private lessons for about 20 years. I'm also a licensed music teacher for middle and high school students in Japan.
