About Me

I am Gergő, from Hungary. I have been a privat teacher for 2 years from now, and I love it! It's my passion. We can progress in your own tempo, we can do whatever you want to do/learn.
I can teach online.
I enjoy giving lessons and had good results and very nice relations with my students.

In 2006, I received the Margit Istók Award, which is the prize for the finest musician in music in Csongrád county. In the next year I was awarded by the 3rd national saxophone contest, as the second-best saxophone player in Hungary. I wanted to be the best in my age group, so a few years later I won the 2nd prize in an international competition called the Femus, and 2 months later, I won the 1st price in the 5th national saxophone contest. I was an active participant in many masterclasses, such as the master class of Christian Wirth, Lars Mlekusch, Oto Vhrovnik, Jerome Laran, Gordan Tudor, Mario Giovanelli, Lev Pupis, Arno Bornkamp, and Philippe Geiss. I am the founding member of The Ladies and the Gentleman Saxophone Quartet (L&G). The Ladies and the Gentleman saxophone quartet aim to promote works originally for the saxophone quartet in Hungary.

Raúl is a Spanish saxophonist who finished his DIDACTIC MASTER in 2018 at the École Supérieure des Arts in Mons. Previously, he also completed a MASTER OF INTERPRETATION at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels (2015-2017) in the class of Alain Crepin and Simon Diricq.
He studied at the "Musikene" (Higher Conservatory of Music of the Basque Country) with Eric Devallon, Tomás Jérez, Antonio Felipe Belijar and Miguel Ángel Lorente.

Passionate about multidisciplinary artistic creation, he thinks of the mixing of all the arts in the same show as an aesthetic goal. This type of research could be observed in his project for his final master's recital in Brussels where he created a project based on Maslow's theory of the hierarchy of human needs where he mixed live, recorded music, dance, light shows and effects under the name: “according to Maslow... ”

In terms of his career as a concert artist, he has played in different ensembles (solo performances, duo, trio, quartet, orchestra...) and different countries such as Japan (Artisanal Musical Fair "Suono Italia" 2010), Belgium (Festival Musiq3 2016), Artonov Festival at BOZAR in 2016...), France (Dax chamber music festival 2011) or Spain (Music Festival “Quincena Musical” 2015, Aste Nagusia 2015, Heineken Jazzaldia 2014, Festival Kutxa 2015, Intercentros Melómano 2010).

Are you a beginner?? No worries: no experience is required! 😁
I can teach you the basics to produce sounds with your saxophone: position of the embouchure (teeth, tongue, lips and vocal cords' position, an element often forgotten), fingerings, use of diafragma,...
After the first two lessons spent on the mouthpiece and neck for the sound production, we will immediately start to play some super easy duos together to practice your capacity of listening, pay attention to the other, ear training as well. I normally use the book of Peter Wastall (titled Learn as you play) as support, but it is not mandatory. There are plenty of good books btw!

Are you an intermediate / advanced student?? I am sure you can still improve in all the basics, but on a different level. I'll teach you the importance of the "voicing" (technique named by the american saxophonist and pedagogue Donald Sinta) to improve your sound production and projection as well as the capacity of correcting and improving the intonation. You can learn all about phrasing and music interpretation, from tonal music until contemporary atonal compositions. And still, you can improve your playing together, practicing in duo on different aspects like tuning, balance, interpretation, performance etc.

I’ve been teaching ever since I began my higher education in Murcia, whether privately, at music schools or at conservatoires in Andalusia.
