With over 20 years of teaching experience, I maintain an active performing career alongside my work as an educator. ​Throughout her years studying performance, Maya has created a studio of young clarinetists. In her studio, she fosters a supportive environment where young musicians can develop their skills and express their creativity. Through personalized lesson plans and encouragement, Maya helps each student reach their full potential, instilling a love for music that lasts a lifetime. Maya is an accomplished clarinetist hailing from Minneapolis, Minnesota, with a deep passion for both chamber and orchestral music. She completed Masters Degree at Bard Conservatory where she studied with NY Philharmonic Clarinetist, Pascual Martinez Forteza and renowned soloist, David Krakauer. She has performed in venues such as Orchestra Hall and the Kennedy Center. As a soloist, Maya performed the Weber Clarinet Concerto no.1 with string orchestra in 2018. She has performed with various esteemed ensembles, including The Orchestra Now (TON), The Bard Conservatory Orchestra, The Phillippsburg Academy Orchestra, The Northern Lights Festival Orchestra, The Saluzzo Opera Academy Orchestra, and The University of Minnesota Orchestra.

Whether you're picking up the clarinet for the first time or looking to refine your skills, my lessons are designed to meet you where you are and help you grow. Each lesson is tailored to your individual needs, focusing on both technical skills and musical expression. Here’s what you can expect: Personalized Instruction: I’ll create a lesson plan that matches your current level, goals, and learning style. We’ll cover everything from the basics (like fingerings and embouchure) to more advanced techniques, such as tone production, articulation, and phrasing. Flexible and Fun Approach: I believe that learning an instrument should be enjoyable! My teaching style is flexible, and I encourage students to explore different genres and pieces that inspire them, while also building a strong foundation. Practice & Progress: We’ll set achievable goals each week, and I’ll give you tips on how to practice efficiently. Progress happens over time, and I’ll be there to support and motivate you along the way. Music Theory and Sight-Reading: In addition to learning how to play, we’ll also cover music theory and sight-reading to help you better understand the music and become a more well-rounded musician. Whether you want to play for fun, prepare for performances, or work towards exams, I’m here to help you succeed!

Graduated with a Master's degree in clarinet from the Royal Conservatory of Brussels, a Didactic Master's degree in clarinet and a didactic master's degree in musical training at the Royal Conservatory of Mons, I propose to give you lessons at all levels of clarinet and/or musical training. I also offer piano lessons to beginner students. I am available every day and move to your home at your convenience. Depending on the level and age of the students, the duration of my classes vary between 30 minutes, 1 hour and 1 hour 30 minutes.
