About Me
Born in 1996 in Chișinău, Republic of Moldova, Dan-Iulian Druțac moved to London when he was 16 years old after being awarded a full scholarship at the Whitgift School in the Whitgift International Music Competition. In London, Dan-Iulian studied privately with David Takeno and last year graduated from his class as a scholarship student at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama. He is the winner of Guildhall’s Lutine Prize and finalist of the Gold Medal 2018.
Besides being a laureate of numerous international competitions, Dan-Iulian had his London debut in 2015 at the Royal Festival Hall, performing the Glazunov Violin Concerto with the Royal Philharmonic and Whitgift Symphony Orchestra – a concert attended by HRH Prince Andrew. Andrew Bernardi, who kindly offered his 1696 Stradivarius violin for this performance, has since continued to provide his support.
Dan-Iulian has performed alongside youth orchestras of Moldova, Romania, the UK, Guildhall Symphony Orchestra, Transylvania State Philharmonic Orchestra, and other orchestras. He also took part in masterclasses with Zakhar Bron, Mark Gothoni, Chloe Hanslip, Daniel Hope, Corina Belcea, Johannes Meissl, Patrick Jüdt, Hatto Beyerle, and other artists.
Dan-Iulian is one of the founding members of Moldo Crescendo, a chamber music festival that is based in Moldova. After four editions, the festival has presented over thirty concerts throughout Moldova and Romania. As a result of the festival, he has been a part of the Moldo Crescendo Trio. Recently, Dan-Iulian joined the Fitzroy Quartet with whom has already completed a tour in Scotland.
