Trusted teacher: Have you ever seen a saxophone and wondered how it feels to play it? It’s never too late to start! I will help you get started with the instrument. Do you already know how the instrument works? Great! Let’s take it to another level! I have plenty of study method books with a big range of different styles, we will find the ones that you enjoy the most and suit you better and combine it in the right way, to help you improve. Plus work on any music that you personally want to learn, name any song and I will help you learn how to play it! I myself had amazing and terrible music teachers during my learning process and believe me, I know what a difference makes... To really enjoy learning music or just to feel a ‘must study’, is the difference between ‘...I have to’ or ‘I want to!’. I finished a Bachelor and a Master's degree in the Music Conservatory (The Hague) and then spent five years in the jazz scene in New York City, which gave me a very wide experience. Whether you are a beginner or preparing to enter a Music Conservatory, I can help you. Classes description: I have different study books we can use depending on the level, Wastall, Klose, Voxman, classic duets, jazz duets, Rubank, Horen, Lezen & Spelen, etc.... Plus I can write for you the songs you want to learn. If you have specific needs of topics to learn I will adapt the lesson and material to it. If what you want is to start or develop further in jazz music and/or improvisation, I’m definitely ready to help you! Beginners: Start finding the sound of the instrument, where the notes are within all those keys, begin with learning how to read music if you don’t read yet, and find easy and fun songs to play to enjoy the instrument already. I can introduce you to the understanding of basic harmony and theory concepts to help understand better inside music that you are playing. Intermediate: We can get to improve the technique of the instrument, reading skills, get more precision, speed, sound and timing and musical expression. Advance the understanding of harmony, its beauty and its possibilities. If you like to work on improvisation we can get to discover how to enjoy improvising with all the technical tools you already learned in the past and enhance that material according to your taste. If you want to start with playing jazz music I can introduce you to first steps and nice and technically comfortable songs to begin with. Advanced: At an advanced level it’s very important to understand the direction you want to take and what you especially want to improve. However I can help you perfectionate sound and timing, rhythm, vibrato, etc..., work on the accuracy of the reading and at the same time make it sound musical and human. On jazz music and/or improvisation, expand the vocabulary for improvising, the knowledge of harmony, what you can do with the material you know from different perspectives, increase precision and sense of direction when phrasing lines, learn more jazz standards, help on original compositions. And of course share all the better understanding of jazz music I learned during my years in New York City.

Trusted teacher: The reading aloud workshop is open to everyone, beginners or not, native French speakers or not, to learn or improve the art of reading aloud. This workshop allows you to address the technical aspects of reading aloud (meaning, breathing, rhythm, phrasing, musicality, etc.) but also to share your love of literature with other participants and to discover texts or authors. The sessions begin with a physical and vocal warm-up, work on breathing and voice. Each participant comes with one or two texts of their choice. During the session, excerpts from these texts are read, one or more times. They are the subject of comments by the workshop facilitator. These comments come to enlighten the reader on the perception of his reading. objectives: It is about teaching the student to master a range of reading strategies to refine and expand throughout his life. Once the learner reads fluently, strategies, such as establishing links between the text and his experience, anticipating what will follow, interpreting the implicit nature of the text, summarizing it, etc. will be addressed explicitly. Advantages : Explicit and functional teaching of reading in Spanish & French; possibility of working on authentic texts, on literature albums reinforcing motivation through their emotional side; pedagogical freedom of the teacher, who is not stuck by a framework imposed by a textbook; reading and writing are considered together, which reinforces the learning of these two skills. Our method in brief: Discuss with the participants so that they know what “reading” is, and enrich their vocabulary to promote learning to read. strengthen phonemic awareness. the pupil should be able to decompose a word heard into its successive phonemes; link reading and writing (which concretizes the relationship between oral and written). Copies and dictations are not enough, children must be made very early on to produce small free sentences or those imitating a given structure. Learning materials and supports: To facilitate written production, gradually create a word bank displayed in class, organized thematically or alphabetically. Break down each word into syllables, observe the spelling... Tool words, which are common and often difficult, should be included as a priority. Each person can also have a "word box" whose content they will personalize in an emotional way; choose various types of texts: narrative, informative, etc.; propose various exercises of composition and variation of words and syllables using letters to manipulate, more concrete and mobilizing the kinesthetic memory; create reading games to make learning more motivating and therefore more effective; Become familiar with variations in writing (handwritten, printed, etc.).
Personal training
Trusted teacher: I'm a 33 years old french teacher and I've been living here in Brussels for 11 years, 8 of them as a french teacher. Before that I studied political sciences and had a couple of experiences in public communication. As a teacher, I gave classes in languages centers (such as Berlitz or Semantics), so I worked and continue working in different environments like lawyer cabinets, hospitals, companies or NGO based in Brussels or with people learing french through unemployment programs). But I also give private lessons, like the one we might do together. This brought me to work with different linguistic, cultural and professionnal backgrounds as well as with very different age classes (from 5 to 65). My class is essentially based on improving communication skills, that is to say that I give an advantage to the practice of verbal expression, through simulations (of professional situations, like doing a public presentation or conducting a meeting,...) and conversation (around documents and medias like articles, audiovisual items,...). Nevertheless, when learning or doing the revision of grammar points is needed, I organize grammar items to work on too (the use of the subjonctif, la concordance des temps, how to express hypothesis,...). For that, I use primarly the book Grammaire Progressive du Français but can also use different material (I worked with some product of the editions Alter Ego more centered on workplace oriented needs for example). So my methode is "taylor-made" as I adapt the content around the needs of each students in term of their communication objectives. Don't hesitate to ask me if I forgot to mention anything in this quick profile!

This was my first meeting with Nikos and I found him to be very understanding and open to my aspirations and ambitions regarding the acoustic guitar. I look forward to being his student for a decent interval to reach my next level in playing classical guitar music.

Eamonn has a great approach to teaching. A mixture of theory and practice tailored to the student. Even from the first lesson I felt that I had progressed in exactly the way I needed, and will continue with more lessons. Great stuff!
