I am graduated in Letters (Portuguese and English) and I have experience in teaching English to foreigners. I always seek to create classes that meet the specific demands of the student, respecting the different forms of learning. I always try to work with songs, short movies and series to expose the student to real situations where the langue learned is being used. In addition, I usually offer some extra exercises as homework so that the student can review what has been studied and deepen into the grammatical aspects of the language.

This course offers you the development of your knowledge in grammar, the enrichment of your vocabulary, the training in the oral expression, the comprehension, the pronunciation and the practice of the written language. In addition, the course may provide assistance with the preparation of interrogations or exams. My goal is to make the student progress with joy and curiosity to learn, without overburdening him. I give homework after each lesson. The method I use to learn a language is called communicative: it allows an immediate and concrete application of your knowledge of the Portuguese language. It translates as: Role plays, discussions, simulations, recordings, exercises in real situations, video, power point presentation ... A "digestible" approach to Portuguese grammar, developed from the grammar book (and authentic documents regularly updated (newspapers, stories, song texts, television and radio programs, exercises ...)

These classes make use of modules in the oral Direct method, in which there is a comprehensive interaction spoken solely in Portuguese that is apprehended by context, this makes this method similar to the kind of learning we experience when we are first learning our mother tongue. Whenever necessary we can switch to another language between these moments, complemented with explanations about grammar and pronunciation when needed. These explanations will be articulated in English, but contact me if you prefer them in another language like Spanish, Italian, French, German or Dutch. We will use the international phonetic alphabet to take notes about pronunciation, but we will also learn about orthography.

Most people think that Portuguese is a difficult language, but maybe because the classes most of the time focus on standard material and grammar. In my classes, we will focus on conversation, cultural aspects, music or whatever you are interested in. The best way to learn and stick to something is through an interesting subject to the one who studies. See you soon? Até breve?
