Trusted teacher: STARTS IN APRIL (availability is from March 31st onwards) If you are serious about writing poetry, or even just a serious poetry reader, then join me for a guide to the poetry of London, while also having the chance to work together on your own writing inspired by the wanderings we will take. A particular focus will be south of the river, the docklands, and the square mile (the old city of London). Explore the worlds of - and delve into - Shakespeare, William Blake, Arthur Rimbaud and others and investigate the liminal places of London that have inspired many London poets. I will also be able to support your writing in online classes. You may have written for a long time, or just be taking a first step to find a safe environment to share your work with someone else. Writing can be such an enriching practice (which may even transform your life), but this doesn't mean it is easy or fulfilling all the way. There are bumps and blocks and tensions... one great way through them is to start to build a community... a good place to start can be to find someone to guide the process of writing and finding ways to support your creativity. I can also signpost to places to go and can guide you to group opportunities and communities, whatever your means. This is best done as a series of classes to reflect and work on your own work. I am a published poet and fiction writer and have worked as a writing tutor for 5 years. I have an MA in Creative Writing and am studying towards a PhD. I work as a writing mentor for poets and writers from many different backgrounds.

Trusted teacher: In the Poetry workshop you will learn the basics of writing poetry. The form, the content and the theme are widely discussed. But we also discuss the history of literature, we pay attention to reading, and we analyze poems. After this workshop you will be able to write poems in a convincing way. For my poetry, below is a review by Hans Franse in Meander. EXTENDED The sun so exuberant and the people the nakedness of the trees and the thaw the coming of spring and the prey of a seagull in the shining river boats in the harbor and a wind keyboard under a deck of steel-grey clouds the people delighted and the trees on melodious streets and the quay the glamorous sparkle of the glass in blue storefronts God's grace the people one on their exuberant terrace Somehow this poem reminds me of Marsman in music and rhythm 'and in the floodplains / the horses gallop / with billowing tails / over billowing grass'. Every now and then I seem to recognize JC Bloem's gloomy outlook on life, but those are compliments. In summary, I think this collection is very readable. They are well-constructed and musically formed poems that sometimes conceal a strong social feeling through a mild irony. It seems to me that the poet suffers from this world, that he seeks the "entrance of heaven." Perhaps the poet also suffers as a Brabander in Amsterdam: no greater contrast than a warm Brabant village pub and the Hoppe café on Spuistraat. A beautiful book, beautifully arranged. After an initial hesitation about a melancholy that I mistakenly regarded as negativity, which I recognized too late, I read it with great pleasure and sometimes emotion.

This workshop is designed to empower neurodivergent artists by providing tools and techniques to tap into their unique creative processes. Neurodivergent individuals—whether living with ADHD, autism, dyslexia, or other cognitive differences—often approach creativity in non-linear, innovative ways. This class embraces and celebrates those differences, offering a supportive space to explore, experiment, and collaborate. Participants will be guided through a series of creative exercises that focus on unlocking new ways of thinking, finding flow, and transforming perceived challenges into artistic strengths. We will explore topics such as overcoming creative blocks, adapting work environments for sensory needs, and finding inspiration through unconventional sources. This class encourages the use of visual arts, poetry, storytelling, music, and movement, allowing each artist to express themselves authentically. Whether you're just starting out or looking to deepen your practice, this workshop aims to build confidence and foster a sense of community among neurodivergent artists, helping them unlock their full creative potential. Key Takeaways: - Practical strategies for embracing and enhancing creative processes as a neurodivergent artist. - Techniques for managing focus, sensory overload, and creative burnout. - Opportunities for collaboration and building a supportive network with fellow neurodivergent artists. - Exploration of how neurodivergent perspectives can enrich artistic expression. - This class is open to artists of all mediums and experience levels. I teach out of a cosy and very friendly cafe but it can get busy and occasionally, rather noisy. If you are concerned that this might be overwhelming, I am happy to travel to a location that better suits your sensory needs
