Play only what you like! - Piano lessons for all levels and all styles

Play only what you like! - Piano lessons for all levels and all styles

Music is Play! and everyone is it's own game. Read, understand and make only the music you like. I think if it isn't fun, it can't be music:) I studied a classical piano bachelor, and later a jazz master and a live electronics master. In the meantime, I have been teaching music. It's longer than 9 years now! Most of my students learn piano. With the starter ones, I use my own system to equally help them grow all the needed skills: body consciousness (to avoid lesions or bad habits), music theory (including writing and reading) and improvisation. Usually most songs are made of melody, chords and rhythm. From there, I can help you understand how a song works, how is it written, how does it translate to the piano... and voilá! You'll know the song by heart, and will be able to play it a bit different every time, because you won't be following a set of pre-imposed instructions. You will understand how a small system (a song) works. This way of learning can be applied to any song, from any century or style. Understanding is key! Play Chopin, write rock songs, play Monk, Bill Evans, the Beatles, make a lo-fi beat, play Beethoven, play the Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter and Star Wars, play video game music, play salsa! bachata and make people dance, laugh or cry. Music is very powerful! PD: I have also experience imparting electronic music lessons in Ableton Live and Max MSP, which is now a very important part of my professional practice. In case you are interested, it is also possible to mix the two worlds and create a any kind of path between piano, synths, beats and home studio techniques. Ask me anything, I'll tell you how I could help!

Music lessons from your home, at a distance (piano, music theory, ear, board games to learn music)

Music lessons from your home, at a distance (piano, music theory, ear, board games to learn music)

Methodology The courses I offer are aimed at anyone who meets one condition: envy! Whether it concerns a child, a teenager or an adult, nothing can prevent the learning of music. The course always adapts to the wishes and desires of the student, his particularities and his abilities, regardless of age. I am in favor of a practical pedagogy where the first thing we touch is the instrument, contrary to what is generally found in academy courses where a year of music theory is a prerequisite for learning the piano. Here, the practice of the instrument, the theoretical notions, the notes, the rhythms and the musical culture overlap together to form a whole that wants to be coherent. I am also very interested in music by ear and I propose to the students to approach songs, also without partitions, just by listening and reproducing the sounds heard. Over the years, I have worked a lot with the students to bring a method related to play to the ear. This completes the classical training by being more independent and being able to arrange yourself the music that you like and that you want to be able to play. Students decide for themselves what training they want from the start. Playing by ear is generally more affordable and attractive. Classical training is the most demanding but it makes it possible to approach a very broad repertoire. This requires learning to read a score and discover the notions of music that we approach in a fun way, using board games, card games to facilitate and accelerate assimilation. The combination of the different techniques is my favorite since the program offered is more complete and more varied. Regardless, all requests are considered and together we build a course that will allow you to achieve your goals! Update: For the past year, I have been offering distance learning courses to my students, being abroad at the moment. In this period of epidemic, this solution is good and allows to learn music, while staying at home. The material required is not very important, a computer, a tablet or a webcam is more than enough. course I have lived with this passion for music and its power for 22 years. I completed this musical passion by sharing and transmitting that I offer and this, for 10 years. Pedagogy, the art of communicating knowledge, how to respond to a desire to learn, these are activities that I find as fascinating as the practice of music itself. I went to live in Quebec and New Zealand and with these trips, I developed with my students this possibility of accompanying them in their learning, even while being at a distance. I am developing this online training project and for the moment, the lessons are given live, like a normal course, with certain modifications. In parallel, with my wife, illustrator by training, we develop board games and educational games to learn music. This project has profoundly changed the way of teaching and we are constantly looking for new simpler, more fun ways to practice and assimilate knowledge of music.

Piano teacher / musical awakening / music theory and singing

Piano teacher / musical awakening / music theory and singing

Nice to meet you! I am Julie, a private piano teacher since 2019 for beginners to cycle II. Currently I have 12 students, adults, teenagers and children from 4 years old! My goal is for my students to learn the piano while having fun, so that they become independent over time and can enjoy playing what they like. This is why I listen to everyone's tastes, while opening doors to registers that might not be those immediately thought of (classical, jazz, singing accompaniment, etc.). Also, music theory is a key point of learning that cannot be ignored if you want to progress. But knowing that it can scare more than one, I would like to point out that I do this in a very fun way by adapting to the level of capacity and age of each person: this therefore involves pieces, songs, and for the youngest, games that I make myself (memory, tables, human-sized mats, card games, writing, etc.). This allows us to suit everyone, and learning through all the senses (writing, listening, movement, memorization, etc.) is, in my opinion, a very relevant means. If the student likes singing, I also offer singing lessons and I teach them how to accompany themselves, so that they can ultimately accompany themselves on all the songs and have a lot of fun. My lessons last 1 hour, whether the student is an adult or a child. I can possibly teach at my home if necessary, but I usually go to the student's home. Also, the piano is a rather solo instrument. But loving sharing and conviviality, I offer in addition to solo pieces, pieces in 4 hands between students by level (which is in my opinion very beneficial from a technical and learning point of view). Finally, 2 auditions per year are planned in a nice room that I reserve with a beautiful grand piano, during which the students sing and play their solo and 4-hand pieces in front of their loved ones. These moments are really friendly and without pressure or expectations from me: snacks, music, laughter and sharing are in the spotlight. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate! See you soon, I hope :) Julie

“ Vitalii is literally a world-class musician. He is also a very talented teacher, he is thoughtful in his approach and able to analyze any issues I have musically or technically and addresses them so that you quickly see significant improvement. Vitalii takes the time to make sure you really grasp what he is trying to help you with and is detailed in his approach. He is also very patient and kind and clearly passionate about music and about teaching. Any one who might be able to, should take advantage of an opportunity to study with someone who is at this level of playing and teaching. The fact that someone of his caliber is available via online lessons is incredibly fortunate and those who study with him-whether looking to gain a solid foundation as a beginner or as a advanced student looking to refine technique and take playing to the next level-should consider themselves very lucky and will gain an enormous amount of knowledge and musicality. ”

“ I enjoy a lot my lessons with Tibor!! From the first lesson, I got a lot of motivation and very good tips and exercices to practice at home. The duration of 1 hour is well used and I get an inspiring mix of jazz-theory and practice, starting from the basics of acoustics... I stopped taking piano lessons 10 years ago, and I was surprised by the speed of my progress after only a few lessons. It overpassed my expectations. Lastly, arranging the lessons schedule was very convenient. Tibor is a flexible, friendly and a great teacher! ”

“ Diana had been a great piano instructor for my daughter, she had the ability to encourage my daughter to play and practice during the week. Her style is nice and clear and she follows the books. my daughter was able to pick up easily and she is always excited about the next lesson ”
