Trusted teacher: Private Painting and Drawing lessons, any level! I am a classically trained painter, I have been painting seriously for 20 years and studied intensively in Florence, Italy. I will teach you the basics about light, form, line, colour and space, and how to constantly grow and improve. We start with drawing from observation and continue to other mediums, including oil paint, once the student is ready. Landscape, still life, portrait, expressive. My goal is to help my students improve every time and reach a new level. I provide many examples from art history as well as my own work, and give lots of demonstrations. I offer a personalized approach fitted to each student. The classes are in a small group format, no more than 4 at a time and each student works at their own pace, it is private classes with other students present, offering a supportive environment in which to learn and grow. Each student receives personalized instruction at their own level. Each student is guaranteed to improve. I ask for a commitment of 5 lessons at a time to see some improvement, and I accept students who are looking for longer term learning. Commitment is a must to grow! Try out one lesson to see if the class is a good for for you. My students tend to stay with me for the long term, if it is the right fit. The classes take place in my studio in the charming location of Grand Hospice, a converted hospice in the city center of Brussels.

Trusted teacher: Note: ALL SUPPLIES & TOOLS ARE PROVIDED FOR THE STUDENTS FOR THE FIRST TEN (10) LESSONS — All canvas, stretcher-bars, panels, paper, brushes, pens, pencils, ink, charcoal, paints, varnish, etc. The finished artworks are, of course, your to keep. There are many ways to create a so-called "realistic" oil painting. And there are many visual tools that an artist can use to make a beautiful visual statement. Whether using thick impastos, thin washes of solvent-based color, bodied glazes, or mixed media elements, each technique can yield an engaging visual experience. Painting is, after all, a means of communication. In this course, we will begin with the basic ideas and techniques for drawing and painting forms as the eye sees them. You will learn every stage for producing aesthetically pleasing and technically strong oil paintings. We will discuss concepts and ideas for painting, developing different studies, stretching the canvas, line drawing, tonal lay-in, dead-coloring (or color block-in), and modeling the forms (1st painting, 2nd painting, and finishing). We will also cover the techniques of alla prima or premier coup (direct painting in one pass). We will also study the formal methods of composition, different kinds of perspectives, paint surface and paint quality (facture), and proportions. And, of course, we will discuss the use of varnishes, including the final picture varnish. Stay calm and confident if some of these terms are new to you. We will adapt the lessons for each artist. I will help you to learn, understand, and perform each step of the painting process. Whether you are a beginner, intermediate, or advanced painter: there is something for you!

Trusted teacher: The practical insight has been developed throughout enduring studies from 2 different institutional perspectives inspired the urge to convey this to the art enthusiasts of all levels and age. Each age is special within the education similarly all targets pointed from the creative spirits creating thus various anticipations. Those anticipations are the basis of each class. My classes are designed through collaborations when it comes to experimentations or intersected fields and mediums, which is an option and pertinent characteristic of approach. However the one who lasts for foundation and aspires him/her the concept of taking it further to possible academic preparation will grab charcoals, a spoke, the required papers, instal from simple to complex still life compositions and set forth the journey of academic drawing theory. And then, of course, start with colour, of both acrylic and oil medium. Pre-school children, children and teenagers are highly encouraged to experiment with different materials and techniques and preferably through themes - selected by me or the student's likings as well. Needless to say that suchlike classes do not necessarily mean free-time activity, the academic material is intentionally or not(unconsciously) always a present element of my instructive performance. Therefore, the game becomes teaching/learning relation, whilst teaching and learning turn into a recreational joyful moment for all participants. The aforementioned forms of classes are applicable to all ages.

Relaxed atmosphere, clear assignments and instructions, and very motivating to get some homework, too! Julia makes you want to get behind this blank canvas, and tackle what looks like an enormous challenge at first. I immediately learned to do things I thought were more than one step up for me.
