My name is Aleksi and I am a Berlin based guitar teacher, singer, musician and professional songwriter. I am offering private guitar lessons (EN) with an added focus on songwriting. From writing legendary lyrics to creating memorable melodies, I'll help you find your unique voice. Lessons are provided in my dedicated home studio room near Sonnenallee. I am really looking forward to hearing about you and what you are looking to learn!

Have you always wanted to learn the piano or enhance your songwriting? Whether you’ve never sat down at a keyboard before or you're an experienced player looking for a bit of a push and some friendly accountability, I'm here to help. My lessons are relaxed, and shaped around the music you actually enjoy. We’ll figure out what you want to play and where you want to go musically, then build the practical skills and good habits to get you there. I’ll offer guidance, encouragement, and accountability while helping you become more confident and independent as a musician. Our first lesson is a chance to chat about your experience, interests, and goals. From there, we’ll create a plan that fits where you are now and helps you move toward the music you want to make. All ages and experience levels are welcome! Testimonials: "I've been studying with Dominic for a few years now, and my understanding of jazz harmony has grown massively over that time. He has a great way of adapting lessons to what I'm most curious about, always picking tunes and topics that keep me engaged. On top of that, he's incredibly patient, even when I show up completely unprepared. Lessons with him never feel like a chore, they feel like music." "With Dominic, I’ve really discovered my love for jazz and have gone from almost nothing to a solid level of improvisation. I’m enjoying it a lot!" "I started learning piano with Dominic as an absolute beginner and have not regretted it. Dominic is a very supportive and inspiring teacher! He takes the time to understand my process and interests, and then creatively guides my learning in a very personalised way. I always leave the piano classes with a joyful spring in my step. Dominic has helped me to unlock my creativity and I am really grateful for that!" "It's been such a pleasure to pick up piano at an older age with Dom. He's super knowledgeable, extremely patient, adapts lessons to your interests, encouraging and just really great to learn from. I would - and already do - recommend him to everyone." Lessons can include: Songs - Develop your repertoire Songs are at the heart of musical practice, and while I have many tunes I can recommend, I'm also very happy to base our lessons on your favourite songs. We can learn any song together. Technique - Exercises, Scales and Chord Voicings We will supplement our work on songs with scales, exercises, and proper technique, to help you build a solid foundation that will make learning new songs or playing with others that much easier. I'll also help you develop a working knowledge of chord voicings that will enrich your playing Harmony & Theory - Develop Musical Understanding We will delve into harmony and music theory as we go. Developing understanding of concepts as they come up in the songs we work on together. Improvisation - Learn to improvise & play by ear Discover the joy of improvisation and unleash your creativity. Lessons will have an emphasis on learning and playing by ear and I'll share some tools and approaches for developing your own improvisational style. Rhythm - Cultivate a strong rhythmic foundation. I'll show you how to improve your rhythm, step-by-step. You can cultivate a solid internal sense of time and groove through exercises that will eventually make rhythmic mastery feel effortless. And more... Lessons are often an organic conversation between the two of us and I'm always happy to explore other topics as they come up...

Welcome to my piano teaching studio! I am a professional pianist offering private piano and theory lessons for students of all levels. As a pianist with over 14 years of teaching experience in Europe and the USA, as well as over 23 years of playing/performing, I enjoy motivating my students with music of their own preferred style and interest, whether that be classical or contemporary. My main goal is to promote a positive experience and love for music-making during the learning process. If the student is interested in a more structured approach, I guide preparation for grades 1-8 of the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM) piano and music theory exams where my students consistently receive highest marks. I also have successful experience preparing students for conservatory entrance auditions, masterclasses, and competitions in the Europe, the USA, India, and Canada. We have class concerts at Pianos Maene for interested students twice per year. I am happy to provide either a more relaxed or a serious approach to learning piano, we simply need to discuss the personal goals and preferences of each student. My own studies are as follows: I have obtained two postgraduate performance degrees at the Royal Conservatory of Antwerp: "Concertsoloist" in Piano Performance and "Chamber Music” (under the guidance of esteemed professor Sergei Edelmann). Prior to this, I received my Bachelor and Masters degrees in Piano Performance/Music from the University of Minnesota - Minneapolis (with Prof. Lydia Artymiw) and Texas Christian University, Fort Worth (with Dr. Tamas Ungar). My experience includes collaboration with many different instrumentalists and singers, performing as a soloist and collaborative member in several orchestras, and receiving top prizes in several competitions. While maintaining my performance and recording career in Belgium at present, I am developing my private music studio in central Antwerp and look forward to meeting new students.

Do you have trouble reading music? Do you love listening to music, but don't understand time signatures, keys or chords? Music theory often sounds abstract, but with the right explanation and concrete examples it suddenly becomes a lot more logical, and even fun :) For whom? - Beginner or advanced musicians who want to better understand what they are doing. - Students preparing for music theory exams (e.g. music school, entrance exams). - Independent artists/producers who want to deepen their musical knowledge. - Anyone who is curious about the language behind music. What can you expect? - Clear explanation, at your own pace. - Theory made immediately applicable with examples on the piano. - Extra attention to insight instead of learning dry rules by heart. - Tutoring fully tailored to your level and goal (classical, pop, songwriting, production, ...). About me I obtained a Grade 8 diploma in Music Theory and also a Grade 8 Piano from the Royal Schools of Music. In addition, I hold a diploma in Audio Engineering from Hofa College. I am active as a music artist and producer myself. Thanks to this combination of classical training and practical experience, I know how important it is to make theory understandable, concrete, and musical. I use my own piano during lessons to clarify everything visually and audibly. Possible topics: - Learn to read music. - Scales, chords & harmony. - Form and analysis (classical, jazz or pop). - Rhythm, time signatures & tempo. - Music theory for producers/songwriters. - Songwriting. - Preparation for exams or entrance tests. Practical - 1-on-1 lessons, online or live (if you don't live too far away). - I provide materials, or we work with what you need. - No prior knowledge required. Lessons adapted to your level. 🎶 Feel free to send me a message with your questions or goals. We'll see how I can best help you.
