I tend to first help the student with homework issues, then I give a few starter questions based on things we did last lesson for memory retention, and then we delve into the lesson based on the topics the student struggles in. I understand the content of the exam boards, especially AQA and Edexcel and how the highest marks are collected. Depending on the student's age, I will give them exam papers as preparation for their final exams, and I do set homework but only do this if a student understands the content I teach them. At the beginning of the session, I will clarify what I expect from the student. My lessons are an hour long, but they are 2 hours for exam prep.
