My passion grew more when I started my Tamil proficiency in a Tamil primary school in JB.I was selected to participate in all Tamil related competitions like essay writing, quizzes, public speaking and name it. Which includes: essay structure, how to approach a text, various methodologies involved in the syllabus, and practice papers that we dissect as a duo to keep the students as involved in the learning process as possible and ensure that as they finish their experience with the IB, they retain the knowledge and skills they have learned long after their examinations are over. In the case of Personal Statements, I focus on aiding the students in establishing a written piece which accurately encompasses who they are, while also placing them in the best light possible. We focus on effectively communicating their course choices, extracurriculars, interests in the program they are applying for, and why they would be the perfect applicant for the University’s consideration. As a tutor, I believe it is my job to not only teach my students their subjects and the skills to approach their coursework, but also give them a safe space to make mistakes and learn. I aim to establish an environment where students feel comfortable asking me questions, knowing that I won't make them feel silly for needing help and will instead support them on their journey to becoming more confident in their studies.
