Graduate of the ENS de Lyon (Master 2) after a B/L preparatory class – academic support and methodology from middle school to high schoolTranslate this text using Google Translate.

Graduate of the ENS de Lyon (Master 2) after a B/L preparatory class – academic support and methodology from middle school to high schoolTranslate this text using Google Translate.

After a scientific baccalaureate, I completed three years of preparatory classes (B/L) at the Lycée Janson de Sailly in Paris, before gaining admission to the ENS de Lyon through a competitive entrance exam. There, I pursued a course in social sciences, with a Master 1 in sociology followed by a Master 2 in history, completed in Japan. Today I offer private lessons and academic support for middle and high school levels in several subjects: mathematics, French/literature, history-geography, economics and social sciences, English, German and Japanese. My goal is not only to help the student with their homework but also to ensure a real understanding of the course, the acquisition of good working methods and a progression towards greater autonomy. My method My tutoring sessions are organized according to a few fundamental principles, which are then adapted to the student's needs: - Review of the lesson with the student: regularity of learning is key to long-term mastery. Depending on the regularity of the sessions, we take time to review the lesson in order to clarify any misunderstandings and verify the acquisition of the fundamentals. - Homework or application exercises: In the case of homework, we guide the student's thinking while ensuring they remain in control of the process. If no homework has been assigned, I provide homework or application exercises related to the lesson. - Review of the method: once the lesson has been reviewed and the exercises completed, it is important to ensure that the method has been mastered. Depending on the level, this may involve exercises in essay writing, commentary, composition, or document analysis. - Deepening knowledge: depending on the time remaining and the ambitions available, I propose problems of higher difficulty in order to push the student to go further. If relevant, I can also prepare method or summary sheets with the student so that they can use them on their own as well. I am available to give lessons in Lyon. I can also give lessons remotely – I have the necessary equipment. The materials I offer I therefore offer academic support for high school and middle school students in the following subjects: Mathematics I studied mathematics intensively during my three years of preparatory classes for the humanities (B/L), at a level of approximately eight hours per week, equivalent to that of a second-year undergraduate student. I have also previously tutored mathematics. I primarily offer support from middle school to high school, from remedial work to advanced study. French and letters The B/L preparatory class allowed me to follow a particularly intensive teaching in literature, with numerous readings, text analyses and essays. In particular, I can support students in preparing for the brevet and baccalaureate exams, in understanding texts, and in learning essay writing, commentary, and argumentation. History geography I studied history and geography in depth during my B/L preparatory classes, through readings, notes, timelines, essays and research projects. I then continued my studies at the ENS in Lyon, where I completed a Master's degree in history specializing in Japan. I can therefore support students both in terms of knowledge and methodology for writing essays and analyzing documents. SES and sociology I studied economics and sociology during my three years of B/L preparatory classes, then continued my training in social sciences at the ENS of Lyon, where I validated a Master 1 of research in sociology. I can support high school students in Economics and Social Sciences, particularly in understanding the concepts of the curriculum, building reasoning skills, and improving their essays and document analyses. English I have a C1 level in English, certified by the Cambridge C1 Advanced. I also spent a year in Japan in an international university environment, where I took courses in English and wrote my assignments in that language. I can support students in English, both written and spoken, particularly to consolidate grammar, vocabulary and comprehension. German I have been studying German since middle school and have regularly stayed in Germany to improve my language skills. I currently have a C1 level and have already taught German. I primarily offer support from middle school to high school, as well as remedial courses. Japanese I spent a year in Japan as part of my Master 2, where I was able to deepen my Japanese through daily classes and regular practice with Japanese speakers. I offer courses up to level B1, particularly for students wishing to discover the language, improve their speaking skills, consolidate their basics or prepare for a trip to Japan. Course format I am also comfortable in group settings and can accompany up to three students of the same level. Small group classes can be particularly beneficial for classmates wishing to revise together, prepare for an exam, or work on a subject they are struggling with. In this case, I offer sliding scale pricing per household to make this formula attractive for everyone. I can also provide occasional help with correcting homework or personal projects, at a reasonable rate. I offer in-person lessons in Lyon or online. I have the necessary equipment to ensure effective online lessons. For home lessons, an additional charge may apply when travel is particularly significant or when schedules are restrictive. Feel free to contact me specifying the student's level, the subject concerned and the objectives sought: we can then determine together the most suitable course format.

Speak English with Confidence — Conversation PracticeTranslate this text using Google Translate.

Speak English with Confidence — Conversation PracticeTranslate this text using Google Translate.

In this class, we practice conversational English by diving into the stories we love. Instead of dry grammar drilling, our focus is on natural discussion centered on books, writing, cinema, and television. We can chat about characters, narrative themes, storylines, or simply discuss the stories that interest you. We can also read and discuss short book excerpts or script pieces together, depending on your interests. As a writer, I'm especially interested in how language creates emotion, reveals personality, and brings stories to life. Together, we'll explore not only what characters say, but why they say it that way, and how you can use natural expressions to sound more confident in your own English. Don't worry — you don't need to be a literary critic to enjoy these lessons. We use stories as a starting point for conversation, not as an excuse to overanalyze every page or scene. Whether you enjoy discussing your favourite novel, breaking down an unforgettable movie scene, or simply chatting about fictional worlds, the goal is to create a relaxed environment where English feels alive and enjoyable. It's all about enjoying the language instead of seeing it as something intimidating. I will correct your mistakes when appropriate, but mistakes are a natural and valuable part of learning. They help us identify what to improve and build lasting confidence. Every lesson is tailored to your interests, goals, and pace. The aim is to help you build real-world speaking confidence, expand your vocabulary, and enjoy using English in a relaxed, friendly environment. MULTILINGUAL LISTENING SUPPORT If you get stuck, you are welcome to use your native language when necessary. I have passive listening and reading comprehension of Spanish, French, Italian, Portuguese, and German, in addition to being a native Serbian speaker. Our lessons and explanations will primarily be conducted in English or Serbian. ONLINE LESSONS Lessons are conducted via Google Meet or Microsoft Teams, depending on your preference. We can use screen sharing and digital materials when they are useful for the lesson.

“ We are very happy with the French lessons Awni gives to our 14-year-old daughter. He is very flexible and adapts the lessons perfectly to her needs and level! He places special focus on pronunciation, vocabulary, listening skills, and conversation, while introducing interesting topics that make the lessons engaging and enjoyable. He is also willing to adjust the lessons to the homework and topics covered at school, which has been extremely helpful for her progress and confidence in French. Our daughter genuinely enjoys the lessons because Awni is motivating, clear, patient, and kind. He creates a positive atmosphere that makes learning fun and effective at the same time!! We highly recommend him as a French teacher! ”

“ Great teacher and genuinely positive learning experience, highly recommended. - As a French language tutor, Florie has been very encouraging, attentive, and patient - great prompts for students who struggle to speak (like me). - She always has a well-structured plan for the class but has also been flexible to adjust to my questions and give additional explanations to the grammar rules, vocabulary etc I wouldn't understand. - As a person, she is outgoing and is very easy to get along with - makes French language a lot less scary than before I started. ”
