Trusted teacher: 👂 My motto for teaching music: Learn with your ear, before understanding it with your brain. Music can be explained entirely from a theoretical point of view 🤯. But I'm convinced that the best approach is to feel and sing the music 🎤💖, before understanding and interpreting it theoretically. I teach music theory intuitively 💫. More than just a way of reading sheet music, I can show you how to deconstruct a piece of music in any genre, how to interpret chords, and how to improvise simply and effectively. ♯♭♮ About me: • playing the piano for >30 years 🎹 • studied classical music & jazz for 13 years in music schools 🧑🏻‍🏫 • played in a variety of bands, including classical music, jazz, blues, Latin music, rock, pop, cabaret, flamenco and electronic music • languages: 🇬🇧🇩🇪🇫🇷🇪🇸🇮🇹🇵🇹 👂 My motto for music lessons: Learn with your ear before you understand it with your head. Hi, I’m Cassie—a British jazz saxophonist, award-winning composer, and Trinity Laban Conservatoire graduate, now based in Berlin. I’m currently looking for a couple of private saxophone and/or composition students who are keen to develop their skills in a supportive and engaging environment. Saxophone Lessons: With a strong background in Jazz and improvised music, I offer saxophone lessons tailored to each student’s needs—whether you’re preparing for ABRSM or Royal College exams (or other equivalent examination boards), exploring jazz improvisation, or just playing for fun. As a performer, I’ve played at major festivals and venues across the UK, USA & Europe such as Glastonbury Festival (UK, SXSW (USA) and Paris Jazz Festival (FR). I am still active as a touring band-leader/artist and I bring that real-world experience into my teaching. Composition Lessons: As a classical composer, my work spans orchestral, chamber, and jazz ensemble writing, with commissions from leading arts organisations and orchestras - recent commissions include the London Symphony Orchestra and BBC Philharmonic. My lessons focus on notation, orchestration, and arranging—whether you’re composing for small ensembles or larger-scale works. I hold a BMus Hons degree in composition from Trinity Laban Conservatoire (London) where I studied with American composer Stephen Montague and British composer Andrew Poppy. Composition lessons I am able to teach both in-person and online via Zoom. If you're interested or have any questions, feel free to get in touch! Looking forward to making music with you! 🎷🎼

Trusted teacher: (German version further down) I enjoy teaching because it requires a deeper knowledge of the material than if one is only performing music. I am continuously learning too. I do not think that it is important how old you are or in what environment you grew up. To engage with music as a result of learning an instrument can bring your brain into a healthy state of ongoing change. People who are "without any talent" for music do not exist. Everyone can engage with music and enjoy it. I can teach piano: - involving sheet music or not, depending on what you prefer. - or/and music theory lessons - or/and improvisation - or/and Jazz - or/and Ear Training - or/and Composition. The lessons can be held in English or German or a mixture of both. I teach close to Friedrichstraße in Berlin. The lessons can be done via Skype too. You can read about me as a performing musician here: Julius (*1995) is a German pianist and composer, graduated from the University of Arts Berne in Switzerland in 2017 with honors. In July 2019 he finished his Masters in the European Jazz Masters Program through the Rhythmic Music Conservatory in Copenhagen with exchange semesters in Berlin and Amsterdam. Throughout his studies, he was lucky enough to receive artistic guidance from Colin Vallon, Django Bates, Harmen Fraanje, Simon Toldam, Peter Bruun, Greg Cohen, and Michael Moore. Julius was granted a scholarship by Lyra Stiftung Zürich in 2015 and 2016. Tours with his own bands have been supported by different fundings from Switzerland and Germany. He performed all across Europe during the past years. German: When teaching, it's important to have a deeper understanding of everything than when "just" making music. I'm always learning as a teacher. It doesn't matter how old you are or whether you grew up in a music-rich or music-poor environment. Engaging with music can put our brains into a healthy state of constant change and growth. There are no people who are "talentedless" when it comes to music. Everyone can engage with music and enjoy it. I offer lessons with or without sheet music, depending on your preference. If you're interested, I also teach music theory, improvisation, jazz, ear training, and composition. Classes are held in German or English, or a mixture of both. I teach near Friedrichstrasse in Berlin. Classes can also be held via Skype. Here is an insight into my musical work: Julius (*1995) is a German pianist and composer working in the fields of jazz and improvised music. He completed his bachelor's degree at the Bern University of the Arts in 2017 with distinction. In July 2019, he completed the European Jazz Masters at the Rytmisk Music Conservatory in Copenhagen, with exchange semesters at the Jazz Institute Berlin and the Conservatorium van Amsterdam. In 2015 and 2016, he received a scholarship from the Lyra Foundation in Zurich. His bands' tours have been regularly supported by German and Swiss foundations in recent years. Julius has played concerts all over Europe in recent years.

Trusted teacher: Hello! I am a Canadian from the West Coast and I have recently made Berlin my home. I am excited to offer flute lessons here, because I have a lot I can teach. I have taught for a few years in Toronto, Canada where I hold a degree in music. To begin with, all my lessons are grounded in body and mind awareness. I strive to impart to my students an ability to stay centred. My knowledge comes both from my teachers in the past, my experience teaching, my experience playing, practising, and performing, on the flute and other instruments and the study of Alexander technique, Tai Chi, and yoga. The insights I share are always unique to each student, as each student will have particular strengths and weaknesses with sound production and technique. At the base of all my lessons is what’s most fundamental— developing a rich expressive tone through the control of the respiratory apparatus. What I do differently from other teachers is incorporating both the “classical side” and the “jazz side” in my lessons. Through the “classical side“ we will approach expression, clarity of tone, phrasing, and breathing through the interpretation of music. Through the “jazz side” we will work on developing a basic working practical theory with improvisational exercises, which you will be able to apply both to improvising your own music and interpreting other’s music. My desire is that my students don’t become “caged” into the notes on the page, but are able to freely and fully express themselves on their own. Ultimately, the two sides meet in the ideal of all my teaching—to help bring out my student’s voice. This is the art which the great performers of the world have mastered— communicating with their own voice. With this, it won’t matter whether you’re playing your music or someone else’s— it will sound like “your own”. If you or your child are completely new to the flute, or you have played for many years and have gotten stuck with what to do next, or if you play an entirely different woodwind instrument and want to learn about improvising, , please contact me I have no doubt I will have a lot I can help you with. 🙂 I spent many years in the notes-on-the-page-cage, and I broke free, so I can help you do the same.

I've just had my first session with George, and I can only recommend him. From the limited information he had, he came well prepared with suitable things to work on. Good paced lesson, and my mistakes were quickly identified and good tips for improvement given. Techniques that I was struggling with were really well demonstrated and explained. Looking forward to my next session.

Sammy's teaching approach is a game-changer! By prioritizing learning by ear over theory, he's transformed my piano journey. His contagious enthusiasm and intuitive methods really helped me progress faster than I ever imagined. If you're ready to truly connect with the piano, Sammy's the one to take you there.
