Beginner to Advanced Lessons for Guitar Players for all ages

Beginner to Advanced Lessons for Guitar Players for all ages

After dedicating 14 years to mastering the guitar, I've developed a comprehensive understanding of guitar playing, encompassing both foundational techniques and advanced music theory. In these lessons, I'll be sharing the wealth of knowledge I've accumulated over this extensive period of learning. I will be covering a broad range of guitar techniques, including fingerpicking, strumming techniques, major and minor chords, power chords, barre chords, riffs, scales, finger warm-ups, practising any song of your choice, string bending, pull-offs, hammer-ons, harmonics, strumming patterns, and slides. All are provided with diagrams etc. For music theory, I will begin by covering the fundamentals, including notes, strings, and the musical 12-note chromatic scale alphabet on the guitar. As students progress, we will delve into more advanced topics such as tones, semitones, chord progressions, circle of fifths, scale formulas and chord terminology. Additionally, we will explore concepts like consonance and dissonance and pitch practice to develop relative pitch. (You have to be born with perfect pitch but you can learn relative pitch with practise!) Then advancing to jazz theory, we'll explore; jazz scale formulas, jazz chord progressions, swing techniques, major and minor 7th chords, major and minor 9th chords, dominant, augmented, half-diminished, diminished, sus2 and sus4 chords. And then jazz scales and the art of re-harmonising a song (changing the chords to jazz chords). All music theory will be intertwined with guitar practice as both can't be done without the other! One observation I've made while learning guitar through lessons is that information is often doled out incrementally, making it feel like a breadcrumb trail. Guitar knowledge and skills seem to be closely guarded and usually gatekept unless actively sought out. I strongly believe that the extensive knowledge I've acquired over 14 years of playing should be fruitfully shared in a more comprehensive and accessible manner, of course while being tailored to the pace of the students. In essence, I'm convinced that the depth of my understanding I've gained could be effectively conveyed and learnt within a two-year timeframe without including the time it takes to master the skill with practice, of course, I'd like to make it easier for people to learn the guitar and the theory behind it. I have also graduated with a distinction for my Music Performance and Production UAL Level 3 Course and a distinction in Fashion Communication which included my music playing at Central Saint Martins. I also have experience teaching guitar in London and Bristol before. The lessons will be taught in English so practising your English with me is also a plus, a foundational knowledge of English is required to take the lessons.

Guitar Lessons, Songwriting & Music Production (Online or In-Person)

Guitar Lessons, Songwriting & Music Production (Online or In-Person)

NL: Personal music lessons in The Hague and online, for complete beginners to advanced musicians. I teach guitar and songwriting, composition, music production, improvisation, and music theory. Instead of following a fixed curriculum, I work with each student on music that truly suits them. Together, we look at what you want to achieve, explore what stands in your way, and find practical ways to move forward. My lessons are aimed at developing creative, versatile, and independent musicians: understanding why something works, experimenting with ideas, and confidently finding your own path in music. Lessons last an hour and usually take place once a week. We often start with an introductory lesson, after which we can set a goal in consultation and work together on your skills in a targeted manner. At the end of the lesson, you will receive practical exercises or ideas to continue with independently. The lessons are available in Dutch, English, and French. If you have any questions about the lessons, feel free to send me a message. ----- AND: Personalized music lessons in The Hague and online, for complete beginners to advanced musicians. Electric, Acoustic, Classical guitar lessons in Jazz, Rock, Blues, Pop, classical, eastern traditional folk music. Composition, singing.

Electric, Acoustic, Classical guitar lessons in Jazz, Rock, Blues, Pop, classical, eastern traditional folk music. Composition, singing.

Hello there! My name is Vasilis and I am a jazz/rock/eastern traditional and classical guitar player, singer and songwriter currently studying as a 3rd year student in the Jazz and Pop guitar department of HKU conservatory. I am coming from Greece where I graduated from my first bachelor on classical guitar and the last three years I live, study, work and play in Utrecht. My teaching career started very early, 12 years ago when my classical guitar teacher let me teach my first student and since then I have worked in multiple music schools and in private lessons with students of every age. This year I also started giving my first band coaching group lessons. In my lessons I try to create a learning path that is formed arround the interests and taste of each student. Since I am a singer and songwriter the lessons can also focus on the creating part of music if of course the student is interested in that. I work with empathy and sensitivity arround the needs of each student. As for my playing career, I play with multiple bands on original songs of mine or covers in different venues and festivals in Europe. The genres differ between pop, jazz, rock, eastern traditional and blues so I can give a big variety of stylistic directions to each student. Last but not least, I am also a singer and because of my good performance in school, I was awarded from the HKU Conservatory the oportunity to follow the vocal curriculum of the school as well. So I can help you with singing too!

“ Excellent guitar teacher in Turku! I am a fairly beginner guitar player and with Thomas the lessons and exercises have always been at a suitable level, making practicing guitar feel fun and rewarding. There is no one-size-fits-all approach here, the teaching is tailored to your skill level and personal wishes. Thomas is not only a great guitar player but a well-versed musician as well, making his teaching not just about playing the guitar but playing MUSIC. ”

“ Jonathan is a great player and teacher. He has a great teaching space in central Paris easily accessible by public transport, where I immediately felt welcome and comfortable. From the first lesson he put together a great program to help me advance towards my jazz guitar goals.I am highly motivated by the lessons and looking forward to continuing. ”

“ Hugo is just a fantastic guitar teacher! He's got a deep knowledge of music and an awesome friendly vibe. What stood out the most was how he tailored the lessons to fit my needs - really showed how flexible and understanding he is. If you're looking for a guitar teacher who gets you, I highly recommend Hugo. ”
