As a teenager I loved rock and metal and spent hours and hours practicing to become better and play those cool guitar solo's. When I turned 17 I really started to like classical Spanish music, playing the likes of Francisco Tárrega and Antonio de Lucena. For the past few years I have focused more on guitarists like John Mayer, Eric Clapton, Jason Mraz and other more mainstream western-style artists. With 14 years of experience playing solo and in a band, and 6 years of teaching experience at high schools and universities, I am convinced I can teach you a thing or two about the 6-string ;). The guitar lessons are partly theory and partly practice. During the first guitar lesson I first look at the starting level. This is different for each guitar student. You can follow guitar lessons for both the acoustic guitar and the electric guitar. With electric guitar lessons, developing your own sound using guitar effects is also part of the guitar lesson.

This course is for the beginner guitarist or the guitarist who wants to progress. The first part of the lesson is most often an exercise to loosen up your fingers. The 2nd part is about a concept to learn And finally the 3rd part is the application on a piece or a part of a piece

🎸 Did you know that guitar students can work towards internationally recognised music qualifications? I prepare children and adults for ABRSM exams (Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music) - a recognised system of music exams used around the world, with grades taking students step by step from beginner to advanced level. The qualification gives students a recognised record of their musical achievement. The higher grades can also be useful when applying for further music studies and, in the UK, some university applications. But for me, the best thing about preparing for an exam isn't the certificate. It's having something real to work towards. You learn pieces, develop your technique, see your progress and have the satisfaction of reaching the next level. My students have consistently achieved excellent ABRSM guitar results, with 95–100% pass rates. I'm a professional guitarist with over 20 years of performing experience, a Master's degree in Jazz Performance & Production, and many years of teaching experience. I love teaching guitar, and I am good at it. Learning music is similar to learning a language. We learn by imitating the sounds that we hear. During this stage, I also incorporate proper technique; how the instrument should be held and how the strings should be strummed or plucked. Once the sound is adequately imitated, we look at influences and start developing vocabulary. Finally, I want to ensure the student can replicate these precise sounds.
