I have previously taught A Level (16-18 years) and GCSE (15-16 years) students, and also one younger student with learning difficulties. My lessons have previously been based on the exam guidelines and specific school syllabi, but have also often taken different directions dependent on student needs. Often this involves recapping more basic topics and concepts, before building upon these new foundations. The students will receive homework -- often this will be to finish work done in class, or a separate assignment based on that lesson which will allow be to assess how you respond to the class content without my supervision.
