We begin with your own philosophy reading: What kind of philosophy do you enjoy? Which author(s) would you like to discover or explore further? Which philosophical text is important to you? From there, the challenge is to deepen and broaden your thinking by renewing the way you read philosophy, through both new approaches and new sources. A key element of my approach is working with both contemporary materials and classical texts. I specialise in topics related to politics and ethics, while also engaging with art, science, psychology, technology, education, and more. Of course, I am open to any philosophical interests or questions you may wish to explore. For instance, I can assist you with practical tasks that call for philosophical reflection. This course provides support with academic writing and presenting. It could take two different formats. Option 1: general guidance in academic writing and presenting. This could be helpful if you have recently entered or are about to enter a higher education degree. In this case, I would provide the material, such as example essays/presentations that we can work with. In addition, I would provide you with resources that would support you throughout your academic journey. Option 2: editorial support for your current academic work. This option could be helpful if you need support with your existing academic work. In this case, you, as a student, would provide the material, such as an in-progress research paper or presentation. In both cases, depending on your needs or interests, the course would focus on covering the key aspects of academic writing and presenting. I consider these aspects to include rhetorical patterns or strategies, syntax, formatting, and style. In this way, my support and advice are limited to effective communication of your work and do not concern its content.

You will submit writing to me – I will return your document to you with corrections (proof read), and I will supply questions to you to help coach your writing to make it clear and comprehensive. Emphasis will be placed on clarity and presentation of information with a goal of helping to develop greater rigor in the student's writing.
