About me: I am a graduate of the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland with a Master's in Musical Theatre Performance. I teach drama, acting, and singing at two different arts academies in Glasgow. I have several years of professional performance-based experience which includes Radio City Music Hall, singing LIVE on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, and multiple professional concerts/cabarets. Student experience: Music and singing should be for everyone to enjoy. Together we can focus on technique, repertoire, or simply how to sing healthily for fun. Performance and public speaking skills are useful to children and those working in any industry. Being able to analyse a piece of writing and bring it life, hold a conversation, or write and deliver your own speech, supports confidence, empathy, and articulation - as well as being a lot of fun! The LAMDA exam syllabi are carefully scaffolded to develop students' skills, with UCAS points available at the highest grades. Available subjects include Acting, Shakespeare, Verse & Prose, and Public Speaking. For those seeking more advanced coaching, I offer support with audition preparation and demystifying Shakespeare. Alongside my tutoring work, I am a professional playwright and theatre critic. I have studied theatre at the University of York, Royal Central School of Speech and Drama and I am a member of the Soho Theatre Writers Group. Aside from the plays themselves, it is important to understand the wider world of theatre. We will look at the plays of Samuel Beckett, Jean Genet and Theatre of the Absurd for Dario Fo. The history of Theatre censorship and the Royal Court Theatre is crucial to understanding Edward Bond's Saved. This class will give you the opportunity to explore these complex texts with a practising playwright, and the expanded knowledge of these plays will give you that edge when it comes to the exam.

This class is for students currently studying GCSE Drama who may want a little help with aspects such as text analysis, practical performance or writing about a performance. We can go into depth about what you may want to include in your review essay (e.g. lighting, colours etc) or talk about how to structure an answer. If you just want to have a read through your provided play (or any play for practice) and discuss it, we can do that. If you want to run your lines for your practical performance, or go over some example texts to get used to learning lines/interpreting scripts, we can do that as well. I achieved a Grade 7/A in GCSE Drama and continue to act locally. I want to make these sessions about you and we will work together to help you understand and achieve.
