“ I really really enjoyed my first guitar lesson with José!! I honestly didn't expect to cover so much in just one class. I went into the lesson with a few things I wanted to learn, including how to play a song I like, and we ended up working on much more than I expected!! What I really liked is that the lesson felt very personalised, but at the same time there is a clear structure behind the classes. José has a programme designed to help you improve progressively, so you always have a sense of what you are working towards and what you can improve next. At the same time, he adapts the lessons to your level, interests and personal goals, which makes the learning process feel much more natural. For example, we didn't just go through the chords of the song I wanted to learn. We worked on the chord changes, rhythm and strumming, and he also pointed out some small things I was doing incorrectly and showed me how to improve them. By the end of the lesson, I could already notice a difference in the way I was playing. I particularly liked that he doesn't just teach you how to memorise a song. José is very patient, friendly and easy to learn from. I also think his classes are a great option if you are interested in Spanish music, culture and language. You can learn songs you actually enjoy while discovering more about Spanish music, and I can imagine it being a really fun experience for someone visiting Spain or looking for a different activity for a special event!! I would definitely recommend José to beginners, people who already have some experience with the guitar, or parents looking for a great teacher for their children. He is also a great option for more experienced players who want to keep improving. He is professional, attentive, patient, funny and genuinely interested in helping you reach your goals. I am really happy with the progress I made in just one lesson, and I'm looking forward to continuing! !!! Nos vemos! ”
“ Thank you so much - I had a very good experience I want to share! Adam I highly recommend Ananda as a language and music teacher. I am at an intermediate Brazilian Portuguese level and (sadly) an enthusiastic perpetual beginner at guitar given a lack of necessary intrinsic ability. She excelled teaching both for the daily 3 hour lessons I had over 3 weeks. Portuguese instruction: Ananda was not dogmatic and met me where I was. She was able to personalize all our lessons. She used current tools of language acquisition - with much spontaneous and directed conversation using comprehensible input. However, she supplemented this with reading aloud together with translation of texts including geography, poetry and other prose. Ananda also drilled me in grammar when she saw this was necessary, even when it meant revision of shaky basics. All of this was with great humor and tolerance to my infelicities. We also went on fun outings, making use of the markets and parks in Porto to improve my working knowledge of Portuguese. Music instruction: Ananda also worked with me on my guitar playing. She has deep knowledge as both a performing musician of early lute music and a composer. She taught me in Portuguese, which meant my learning solfège, how to sound out rhythm and figure out harmony. She also taught me enough tablature to allow me to accompany her in some early lute music. We also worked intensively on Bossa Nova rhythms, as well as other Brazilian rhythms. She has a passion and love of music that is a delight to behold and infectious. Despite my continually straying from the rhythm and messing up chord changes, she made me feel my musical journey is im ”
“ Marloes does an excellent job of understanding the student's needs and goals. Always attentive during the lessons, she provides clear/targeted feedback on areas of improvement and actively listens to your singing. Most importantly, she creates a comfortable/safe environment to experiment with your voice. As a beginner in singing, I highly recommend anyone who wants to get started singing to take lessons with her! ”
