My journey with the saxophone began at the age of twelve, and over the years I have developed a deep appreciation for both solo and chamber music performance. I strive to inspire my students to combine solid technique with genuine musical expression, helping them build confidence, discipline, and artistry in their playing. #The lessons are highly flexible. You can choose weekly sessions or monthly reviews, and lessons can be 30, 45, or 60 minutes. I offer a wide range of music resources, and you are welcome to bring your own books, pieces, or suggestions. I am based in Ghent, and lessons can take place at my studio or at your location, anywhere in Belgium. The schedule is very flexible and can be arranged according to your availability. I can teach in either English or Chinese. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me directly. Throughout my career, I have performed in various concert halls such as the Tianjin Grand Theatre and the Tianjin Concert Hall, appearing both as a soloist and as part of saxophone ensembles. No worries: no experience is required! 😁 I can teach you the basics to produce sounds with your saxophone: position of the embouchure (teeth, tongue, lips and vocal cords' position, an element often forgotten), fingerings, use of diafragma,... After the first two lessons spent on the mouthpiece and neck for the sound production, we will immediately start to play some super easy duos together to practice your capacity of listening, pay attention to the other, ear training as well. I normally use the book of Peter Wastall (titled Learn as you play) as support, but it is not mandatory. There are plenty of good books btw! Are you an intermediate / advanced student?? I am sure you can still improve in all the basics, but on a different level. I'll teach you the importance of the "voicing" (technique named by the american saxophonist and pedagogue Donald Sinta) to improve your sound production and projection as well as the capacity of correcting and improving the intonation. You can learn all about phrasing and music interpretation, from tonal music until contemporary atonal compositions. And still, you can improve your playing together, practicing in duo on different aspects like tuning, balance, interpretation, performance etc. Book a lesson and try!
