Learning a new language can be exciting, but also challenging, especially for children who are still finding their place in a new country. My goal is to help children feel more confident, comfortable and successful speaking Dutch. My name is Ieke and I have been teaching since 1995. I worked as a primary school teacher from 1995 until 2008 and later specialised in teaching Dutch as a second language (NT2). This combination gives me both educational experience and a strong understanding of language learning. I offer personalised Dutch lessons for children aged 8–11 years old with an international or expat background. For me, safety and connection come first. That is why we always start with a short introduction meeting to see if there is a good match and to understand your child’s needs. Together we create a personal learning plan. My lessons are practical, interactive and tailored to your child. No boring worksheets for hours, we learn through conversation, meaningful activities and topics that fit your child’s interests and world. From there, we work on vocabulary, grammar, speaking and confidence step by step. My aim is not only to teach Dutch, but to help children feel more at home in the Netherlands. I have been giving tutoring to children of different ages for a few years now.
