I’m a native English speaker from the US and a former international school teacher with over eight years of private tutoring experience in Amsterdam. I teach adults and children, from complete beginners to people who already speak English but want to feel more comfortable using it. I’ve also completed additional training in teaching English as a second language. I especially enjoy teaching adults. You might want to feel more comfortable speaking with your child’s teachers, meeting new people, making appointments or using English at work. We’ll talk about what you need English for and build our lessons around that, with time for conversation as well as grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation and writing. Having moved countries myself, I understand how tiring it can be to settle somewhere new when everyday conversations take extra effort. Lessons are a place to practise, ask questions and work through things you find difficult without feeling rushed. You’re welcome to bring along an email you need to write, something you’ve heard but didn’t understand, or a situation you’d like to practise for. I’m also happy to share what I’ve learned from living in Amsterdam over the years. For children and teenagers, I combine English teaching with their schoolwork, helping them develop the language they need to understand lessons, complete assignments and participate in class. I’ve worked with students in Dutch, British and other international schools, and have particular experience supporting children who are new to learning in English. I also specialise in working with students with ADHD and other learning differences. Before moving to Amsterdam, I taught Grades 1 and 2 at the International School of Choueifat in Dubai. Alongside tutoring, I now work as a writer and editor. I hold a BA from UCLA and an MSc from the University of Amsterdam. Lessons are available in person in Amsterdam or online. Hi! I'm Tanya. I was born in Italy, but for the last two years of my life I have traveled the world, mainly in Central and South America and the Middle East, traveling and working remotely. I have lived in Argentina and Guatemala. I am a professional teacher with 7 years of experience. I worked on the translation of medical and legal articles, panels in the glass museum in Venice and worked as an interpreter at the court of Venice. I have a degree in languages, I am certified in international law and I am a language coach. Language coach means that I not only teach you a language, but also how to learn new languages! I will closely monitor your entire learning journey, to get the most out of your skills! That's because I love learning new languages! That's why after years of studying I became a polyglot (8 languages - Italian, English, Spanish, French, Japanese, Arabic, Hebrew, Dutch) and I came up with a method to teach you the language you want to learn!
